Smoke
The past two days have been very difficult with the boys. We’ve been under the “hazardous” air quality conditions because of the wildfire smoke. Usually when they start to act up during an otherwise uneventful day, we can just send them outside to play for an hour – or, more accurately, until one of them pisses off the other and they both come inside. Sometimes it’s only ten minutes, other times it is a solid two hours.
But with the incredibly unsafe conditions outside, we have kept them in since A and I got home yesterday. And they have been insufferable. The constant picking at one other inevitably turns into shouts of “He’s the worst” and “He’s so annoying!” And the fact that M and I have been trying to pack, sort, and organize for our big move doesn’t help anything.
I really can’t wait for this smoke to subside. I know, I know… It isn’t going to go away. But at least I can hope that it will get better enough.
Late next week, we’re planning on going up to the family cabin for a couple of days. Normally, these trips are full of hiking, fishing, boating, and swimming. I hope this year that the smoke doesn’t make it a several-day excursion into cabin fever.
