what to bake

Some sorta fall storm has blown in.  Rain and wind expected for the next 2 or 3 days.  Great baking weather, just haven’t decided what to bake yet!

The daughter texted me yesterday, had something she wanted to discuss, and she was on her way to my house.  I already had a good idea it was about school.   And yep I was right.  She wants to drop her classes.   What do you say?   If she doesn’t want to go I can’t make her.  And if I do force her to go she wont do good in any of them. She was afraid I would be mad at her.  I told her disappointed, but not mad.

She said she just doesn’t know what she wants to do with her life.  I told her thats fine, but she doesn’t need to sit on her butt until she figures it out.  Go out and get a job, not just waitressing a few nights a week.  So I guess time will tell.  Its hard for me to parent her when she lives with her father.  He is so involved with his new girlfriend, I doubt he even noticed the daughter wasn’t going to school regulary. Even I figured it out miles away. I made it clear that I would not be giving her any money.  If she was ready to quit school, then it is time to go out and make it in the big, bad world.   It makes be feel bad that I left her before she was done cooking!   Oh I hope that girl can figure life out.

J had called earlier in the day to tell me that he had made plans for us to meet our friends for a few beers after work.   Well you know how that goes.  Lots of talking and laughing, and next thing you know its 10 pm and the place had quit serving food.  We went home and I tried to make quessadias from chicken from the night before.  But the chicken had been marinaded in jerk seasonings, so they tasted terrible.  Needless to say we went to bed hungry!

Today was my Bible study group, plus I was on the refreshment comittee.  I got up and made a quick batch of monkey bread.  It was actually a big hit.   In our prayer group I put in a request for my daughter.   It was nice to get together with the ladies this week.  After our brunch last Thursday, and sharing things about ourselves, it felt more like a group of friends this week.   Our small group goes over the lesson plan, things we study on our own.   Then we all meet , 4 different groups, inside the sanctuary for Beth Moores video lesson.

I love listening to her.   She just draws you in.   I watch her every Wednesday morning on Life Today.   I think I will ask for some of her books as Christmas presents.  I have already asked my mom for the Left Behind series of books.

I need to run to the store.   Hate to think about going outside, but the hubby just called requesting spaghetti for supper.   And of course I need ground beef.  Guess I will grab supplies for baking, and supper tomorrow night.  That way I don’t have to leave the house again. I think a fire in the fireplace sounds like a good idea for tonight!

Monkey bread is one of Denise’s specialties…and I love when she makes it! You sound much like her in your entries….guess that’s why I know you’re a nice lady. Hope your daughter figures out what she wants and where she wants to be in life. I know how hard that is to do for any of us…. You have a great weekend Liz, and see ya later, Michael
