OMG! Great Audition.

Well I did it I had a great Audition, I was all over  the shop during the day making myself sick with worry to the point wheree I thought I was going to be sick but I got home from work and relaxd tried to calm myself down. Had a small amount of dinner, made a peppermint tea to take with me (a little trick I learnt to keep the vocial chords warm) I did my warm up driving there it was about 30 mins away. I got lost (so whats new), finally got there a little stressed as I was about 5 mins late. It was an open audition which I dislike even more then a closed audition. Everyone that wanted to could watch the audition. Anyway I didn’t have time to think or be nervous once I got there, I basically got there and marked my name off grabed the readings I had to do and go sit down. It felt like I had just sat down when the said ok KT you ready. Well I thought its now or never and got up and sang my song. I sang Alto’s Lament. See video below. This video is not of the audition but another night I sang it. I think the audition was better than that video. I had everyone giggling at times. So I felt good.

Then comes the reading. I am not great at reading things and as I had only just been given them and really hadn’t had the time to look at them I was very nervous I was shaking so much the paper was shaking and I couldn’t read it. I did the reading anyway and stuffed up a couple of times but the Director was great and asked if I would like to take some time to look over them again then come back and read again. I felt like say HELL YES. But I was polite and said yes thank you.

I got to read again and had people laughing at the right times so that felt good. It was hard watching other people audition cause you always have in your mind that they are better than you but basically I just thought, if I get a part it is meant to be well if not, there are other shows out there.

So the night was over and we were told to keep a look out on the website for the results. I told myself I would not look at the website while at work today but I couldn’t help myself there was a page that said "AUDITION RESULTS". I thought that was quick. With butterflies the size of bats in my tummy I opened the page to my suprise it said "We are conducting call backs on Monday night. If we require you to do a call back the director will call you. Finally results will be posted on Tuesday by 11am"

My first thought was well I didn’t get in they didn’t call me. Then I went on to think maybe I did get in they just don’t need me to do a call back. I waited all day and I hadn’t received a call. So I thought oh well just wait to see what happens you wont know anything till it is all reveled on Tuesday. But silly me forgot that when my phone is in my draw at work I don’t get reception. So as I was getting in the car to drive home from work my phone rings. There is a voice message asking me to call the director.

Well I live like 15mins at the most from work and I thought I would just get home and ring. Easier that way and wouldn’t you know it the day I want to be home quickly is the day that there is a huge accident and it takes me 1hr to get home.

Finally home and I ring the phone is busy, I wait ring again busy, about 20mins later I try again. I get through and the Director tells me that they would like me to come back and sing a different song. That they need to see a different style of song as the charator they would like to see me play has a more "Lyrical" type song. I thought "Lyrical" no probs I love lyrical. Then the director says Just between you and me you are in the show we just need to see if you can sing a little higher and more lyrically, she told me that she like me the mintue I walked up to sing and thought I was perfect. She really believes I can do it but I think the Musical Director Justs wants to make sure. The director was lovely giving me song ideas and we decided that I should sing "Pharaoh Story" from Joseph. She felt it would be close to the song from the show and it was something that I know cause she didn’t want me to stress about trying to learn a new song. I think she is just so nice to give the advice and all.

I can’t stop smiling. I am so happy. So Monday I will go sing and then after that I will reveal the show and the part. If I haven’t said it in an earlier post.

Sorry this is so long, I need to record it so when other things dont go so well I can look back on this and remember this one.
