insomnia and chicken soup

I’m free this afternoon, well still have to go to my violin lesson, it’s not far from where I live so I can leave the house half an hour before the lesson. It’s 1.20pm now and I have to leave the house at 3pm, so still some time.

Today I woke up at 4am and couldn’t sleep. It’s new for me to wake up that early and not being able to fall asleep again. I started to watch some movies on my iPhone, I wanted to see some polish movies…but all of them were stupid.

Because the movies were so silly and I couldn’t find anything else what would made me interested or fall asleep I switched to National Geographic and somehow ended up watching a Plane crash investigations programmes on that channel! That was a bad idea! One programme showed the plane crashing into the house in the suburbs of New York City in 2009….after that my phone battery gone off and I ended up laying in the dark thinking what I would have done if the plane crashed into our house….gosh…a few more insomniac nights and I will get mad. Next time I will read a book! The strange thing is that I don’t feel tired or sleepy today.

now I’m cooking chicken soup in a typical polish way

chicken (I added at the beginning and then took it out), whole vegetables (eventually cut in half) like carrots, parsley, leek, celeriac, (sometimes people add half of cabbage and whole onion first fried quickly on the pan so it becomes a bit brown and when added to the soup it change soup’s color into the old golden-ish).

After that you cook thin pasta/noodles separately and then eat it with the soup, you can also add a fresh parsley.this type is the best

The secret of this soup lies in slow cooking, you have to cook it on a small fire for quite a long time…like an hour or even more. I know maybe the vegetables will loose all the vitamins but I believe it’s still healthy and additionally the taste of the soup is great and somehow it’s very good when you have a cold.

Random noter; That looks delicious, I love meals I can throw into the slow cooker and delve into hours later!

Ah but all the nutrients come out into the water so you’re eating them… Looks great! Have never heard that about cooking the noodles separately – you learn something new every day!

I would love some of that soap in this cold weather 🙂
