Bike trip and stuff…a very looong entry!
I’m so behind writing! Not only in here but also in my journals….I’m thinking whether writing things down on paper have any sense or not? Recently I’ve been even considering to give up on keeping a journal..after all those years..but ‘what’s the point?’ I thought…there is only a risk someone might read it and see all through me, and I don’t want that to happen! Probably that’s the main reason why I’ve stopped writing for a while. When I’ve moved in to my parents my mum was sorting the pail of ‘rubbish'(I mean my stuff) that I have left in the bag. There was one of my old unfinished diaries…and I caught her with that notebook opened. It wasn’t long she had it open but it freaked me out that she might try to read more. After that we had an argument, she claimed she didn’t read only checking what kind of book it was in terms to sort it as she couldn’t stand looking at this bag full of stuff so disorganized. It happened last month and I think after our argument she won’t try to read anything…and I know she didn’t intend to really read through my diary, however, since that time I have a fear someone will read something…and at some point I stopped to write. I know I sound like a 15 years old, but ..well…any contact with my mum has always made me feel like I’m back to my teens.
Anyway, I know and I hope I will keep on writing, it helps me to understand the events and put them in order in my head. I have to buy a new notebook.
As to my bike trip it was great but it was really difficult! Every single day we were lost….because of that we did more kms than expected in the plan. Every morning we were given a map and what there is to visit on the way and then we had to choose whether we want to ride with some small group or solo. I was always with my cousin, in fact I preferred to ride only with him, more flexible than with a group. The first day we met some people on the way (you always meet someone from the group on the way) and we stayed with them. One girl misunderstood the map and we ended up climbing a very steep mountain. That was our first day, we were after a 6 hours train trip and by the time we climbed that mountain (only one person was able to ride up the hill, it was 20% steep) I was exhausted!
The next day we had a only mountain way. It was better, no cars but a lot of stony ways and streams. At the beginning it was fun to cross those streams, they were quite shallow. Sometimes I could ride through on my bike but mainly I crossed them on foot (without my trainers) it was fun, the day was sunny and we made some photos. However, at some point we turned into a wrong direction (most people who reached that point before our organizers did the same mistake!) At the beginning it was OK…more streams..I was a bit surprised why we have to cross so many streams, and there was one which was very unsteady, the water was very powerful there and it reached almost my knees. I crossed with my shoes (at some point I have given up idea of taking my shoes on and off) After that we reached some village and there we heard from some people that we heading in wrong direction. It started to rain and there were thunders somewhere around. We got really pissed off, my cousin told me we have to go back and cross some of the streams again! Including the deep one! It was raining a lot and I was scared of the water in that stream. When we reached that stream my cousin crossed first and then waited for me…and I couldn’t get through. I got stucked in the middle of the stream standing on some wobbly stone, all wet, I couldn’t move my back…actually I panicked. My cousin came to help me with the bike, he slipped on the stone and ended up in the water, all his trousers wet. Gosh! I think without his help I won’t be able to cross that horrible stream.
When we finally reached the meeting point we looked horrible, my cousin riding without shoes, all trousers wet, I’m with my shoes but all wet too. Some people were putting on the tents but I couldn’t imagine sleeping in the tent with all those wet clothes in the bags. We were lucky because some people who give rooms for tourists gave us a living room to sleep (all bedrooms were already taken by other wet people from our group) It was really nice! I was able to take a shower, change, my cousin even went to buy some supplies and we cooked some risotto. We also watched the first football match and talk with some people from our group.
The third day we couldn’t follow the map as it went through Slovakia and we didn’t have helmets! Me because I don’t own a bike so the helmet, my cousin because he tried to save money on not buying a helmet. However, in Slovakia the helmet is a law and we were scared they will catch us and we will have to pay for not having it. So we decided to go through Poland which was a bit longer..well it is what we thought at the beginning! My cousin had a navigator but he typed something wrong so the navigator said we will have to do 75 km…that was Ok with us, only 15km more than through the Slovakia. However, after we did 60 km my cousin realised his mistake and the navigator showed the real number of kms we would have to make to reach our meeting point! 100! When my cousin told me at our 60th km that we will have to do 40 more I panicked. I thought I wouldn’t make it! We had to went through two mountains which meant climbing twice and serpentine way down (quite dangerous) I was OK riding down, sometimes I reached even 45km an hour my cousin is crazy he does 60kms an hour like most of the people there. I was scared on the speed and always tried to reach 35 but as using breaks too often isn’t good for your bike you have to be fast when you ride down the hills whether you want it or not…and that was why I had my accident.
We were riding down from the last mountain, my cousin already far away down the road, I saw him from the distance, a small dot (that high I was) I was coming down fine, it was a typical mountain asphalt road with the cars. I’m lucky there wasn’t any car coming behind me at that moment. I was turning on the curve and there were stones on the road. I tried to avoid them and used my break, my mistake was that I used only one as the front one was a bit used. Suddenly I lost control over the bike and the bike slid and I fell on the road. The first thing I thought was ‘It had to happen’ as every single person on that trip had some smaller or bigger accident at least once, and I was waiting for my turn.
The bike hit my left leg, the inner side just next to my knee. At first I thought I broke the leg, the pain was horrible, I even looked if there is any bone sticking out of the flesh but thanks to God everything looked normal. I could walk but the leg was very heavy. At some point I had to ride as I was in the middle of nowhere and I didn’t expect my cousin to climb the mountain to get me. He didn’t know I fell and I knew he was waiting for me at the end of the road. Luckily I could ride the bike without pain, but I could hardly walk. I was soo scared of speeding up that the rest of our journey my poor cousin had to wait for me as I was very slow.
Luckily there weren’t any bigger hills on our way. I was so scared I broke the leg, some people told me that the bone can be broken and if the pain gets stronger I should do the X-Ray. I took some tablets in the evening, we had a fire and sausages and I sort of forgot about the incident. We slept in tents and I was sort of OK. However, next morning on Sunday, it was our returning day I couldn’t walk properly, the pain was very bad, I was scared the bones was broken.
I have to say that the pain lasted for a week, I was using some special cream which helped…but even today I have the pain when I bent and I have to sleep with this leg straight, but I guess it’s not broken or anything.
Overall that was a great trip but I think next time I will prefer to try a walking mountain trip…I think I prefer to walk. More time to reflect on things, not that fast either.
I want to put some photos but I have a problem with my Photobucket…forgot my user name and I got the new password and was about to transfer first photo and then the photo bucket just disappears from the page….I will work on that later and if I manage to sort it out I will put some photos.
Oh and I have a bridesmaid dress! On Saturday I went shopping with my dad as he needed the whole set like suit, shirts, shoes etc. We sorted everything out in M&S luckily! We didn’t have to walk around the shops, we managed to buy everything there! And luckily Men’s departments are always quieter so we could do our shopping in peace.
Then I went to BHS and I saw some bridesmaid dresses on sale, some colours were half price. I tried one on and it was good on me! I sent a photo text to my cousin, she liked it too so I bought two of them (there were only few dresses left and luckily they had exactly the sizes we needed) They were reduced from £90 to £45! So, I bought two dresses for the prize of one! They nice Once I sort this horrible photobucket I will put the photo here!
OK that’s enough! I have to practice my violin now as tomorrow I’m having my first ever violin exam!!!!!
I, actually, write more in my leather journals than I am here. Then I choose the most suitable entry to post up there. And if you have trouble someone may read your entry, then better never use the real name or posting any pictures. :O)

And speaking about cycling trip, I know how difficult that was because I did cycling in those years when we were at college. It was awfully stressful journey because it is really a very tiring long road and difficult ones. And then some sprankle ankles, cramp muscles, etc. Worse was the rain! I hope you’ll find much a better time in the next day then! Try to enjoy it! Take care!

One of the advantages of OpenDiary is that it allows you longer entries. Most of what I put on Facebook is total garbage by contrast.
