tune of carryonmywaywardson

carrion’s what vultures eat
they prefer the pre-killed meat
they like sun-bloated food best
let it rot some more

though they rise above and soar in the blue skies
keep their sights on the ground in case something dies
they will fly in low tight circles ’til they see some gore

through its eyes could see the corpse of a dead horse
through its mind visions of feasts that were four-course
it swoops down when you stop bleeding
then it has its way

carrion’s what vultures eat
they prefer the pre-killed meat
they like sun-bloated food best
let it rot some more

masquerading as a crow or an eagle
keeping eyes upon that deer chased by beagles
the hunter might just take the antlers
and make the vulture’s day

high up in the air they’re waiting for corpses
biding their time while they gather their forces
and in all the biology courses
the science teachers say

carrion’s what vultures eat
they prefer the pre-killed meat
they like sun-bloated food best
let it rot some more, more!

carrion
and it’s probably dismembered!
carrion
nothing equals the splendor
their bellies no longer empty
filled with sun-aged goo

carrion’s what vultures eat
they prefer the pre-killed meat
they like sun-bloated food best
let it rot
let it rot some more, some more!
