Tree Of Dreams

As I slept, a tree grew beside my bed
slowly at first
carefully and silently breaking through the floor
I saw it in my dreams, and went to water it
I tended it through many years
watching it always in sun light and moon light
watering the tree when needed
I knew it was special
it grew strong and high although it never touched the ceiling
it bent over my bed
creating a canopy, leafy and dark
in the day, the deep green reflected on the walls
making my bedroom like a forest
the thick leaves caught all my thoughts
and held them safe
within their branches

I thought it looked much like a Giant Bonsai
twisted by time and care
to beand over the bed
shading it from the world
it was beauty
I loved it
and as I dreamt
I knew I would always be safe from nightmares
and bad spirits would nolonger find their way into my bed
into my head
this dream was bliss
I never wanted to wake
but I saw the sun rising in the west
and before I could understand why
I awoke

I slowly opened my eyes
and above me
was the bough of a tree, thick and dark
dripping with green specks of light
and I smiled
I was safe
