Body Map
I awoke,
the dusty feeling of broken ties
and family knots
settled uncomfortably on my skin.
I became aware of
cracks in curtains
invading dawn
and illuminated lines
that rested upon my body.
Skin became a rolled leather map
of a foreign homeland.
I stroll glowing paths
that criss-cross on mound
in valley
I notice signposts raised
in my lifetime,
ink and scar,
and knew my timeline was rooted
much deeper
than this
fleshy landscape.
