What a Difference a Couple of Days Make
I feel BETTER! 110% better and it is fabulous!
It couldn’t have come at a better time too – Friday night, I was still dragging ass and even though I joined Brian on our back deck for a glass of wine after watching Swingers for the first time (MONEY, baby!) – I SO could have just went straight to bed that night. Tired, achy – GO AWAY!
Well – someone, something heard my prayers and I got up on Saturday and felt fine. I thought I didn’t need to do that much to get ready for the party – what a joke! I ran my ass off from around 9am that morning until the first guests arrived around 5:30, getting the house ready, running errands, cleaning, etc.
But it was totally worth it – the house looked fabulous and everyone fell all over themselves to tell me so, which made me feel great. The birthday girl was surprised enough to tear up a little when she opened the front door and saw a houseful of people who loved her and wanted to celebrate her special day with her. She was a little social butterfly, flitting from group to group, talking too loud, laughing too much – it was great to see. She deserves a good time like that so much after all of the hard times she has seen over the years.
Brian – my dear, sweet husband – ran his gorgeous ass off as well, grilling for around 30 people, making sure everyone had what they needed. I never would have been able to pull this thing off without him and I can never thank him enough for everything he did. The errands this week when I wasn’t feel good, the million trips to the store for that one last thing we forgot and wearing a path in our yard back and forth between the grill and our kitchen to make sure our guests didn’t run out of food. You are the best, sweetie – I don’t know what I did to deserve you!
So, the morning dawns bright and beautiful today, I am overflowing with energy and to top it all off, my house is already spotless from the day before so the day is all MINE to do whatever I please!
My aunt and I are going to see a movie this afternoon but haven’t decided which one yet – either Wall-e, Get Smart or Hancock. Then, with our cooler day today, I plan to get outside as much as possible, work in the garden, maybe fertilize my roses and for the first time in over a week – WORK OUT. My body is crying for a good, sweaty workout and I think I will try for a nice, long bike ride later this afternoon. I keep telling Brian I want to work up to a 10 mile ride – that would only take me about an hour, a little less if I haul it which shouldn’t be a problem a couple of times a week.
I can’t believe it is already the middle of July – the summer is half over and as I stare at the calendar, I try not to mourn for the days that have already past but all of the fun, summer days still to come.
Nordhouse Dunes, on Lake Michigan. They have regular campsites too, just not that close to the lake. You only have to be 400 feet away from the lake when you do backcountry camping! I totally packed a tiny, lightweight version of all my products and even put together a camp make-up set. It barely weighed anything. 🙂 I’m not exactly authentically outdoorsy…

Glad you’re feeling better! Sometimes, your body just shuts down because of stress – probably you just needed a break!

RYN Thank you. I don’t think I ever realized how it’d been kind of dragging on from the beginning until I stepped back and looked at the big picture, ya know? I can’t believe summer is half over.
