I Just Blew It!

I just ruined the surprise party for my friend, Carol. I got an E-mail from one of her friends with an address to send an invite to, meant to forward it to her DIL (with the same last name) and the first name that came up in my E-mail address book was Carol. OF COURSE, I didn’t pay attention and sent it to her. It had all of the info about the party in it, everything.

She claims she didn’t read it and just asked me what it was about. I just told her to ignore it and not worry about it. I don’t know if she actually deleted it without reading the whole thing, read the whole thing, etc. Either way, she knows something is up so we will never be able to get her out of the house that day with our fake plans we had in mind without her knowing something was going on.

I feel like the biggest asshole in the world – I told her DIL and husband that if we accidently let the cat out of the bag, it was no big deal. But that is when I thought one of them would do it and not me.

I know she will still enjoy the party either way – the point is to get together with friends and celebrate, have a good time and she will be able to do that surprise or no surprise. But at 60 years old, how many more opportunities will you have for someone to go to the trouble to try and surprise you and make it special for you? *sigh*

I hate myself right now and want to cry but there is nothing I can do about it. I just need to take a deep breath and move on. I know getting ready to start my period isn’t making me any less emotional about this whole thing. My friend just has so little going for her these days, this party is really going to mean a lot for her.

Speaking of – she got a 2nd interview for that new job – tomorrow at 9:30 so be thinking good interview thoughts for her!

What a shame, but really, I bet that she is/will be just as thrilled that you thought of doing a surprise party for her and you’ll all have a great time. I shall be sending positive thoughts via you for her job interview.
