A Woman’s Right to Shoes

Our step fitness challenge here at work has really opened my eyes that I need to get better shoes for walking! Not only my all purpose workout shoes but my everyday work shoes as well. I love cute shoes as much as the next person but when you are now trying to walk to lunch every day, take the stairs more and park out in the boonies to get more steps everyday, sling back heels just aren’t cutting it!

So – in my ever growing boredom with my current job, I have spent a little bit of time this afternoon browsing around online for some possibilities, which I will be checking out live and in color after work today.

For workout shoes – I am a loyal New Balance fan and found these on Zappos. I am sad to say I have been working my current pair for oh . . .probably going on 3 years now and I work out 4-5 times a week. BAD GIRL! I read somewhere today that you should change your workout shoes every 6 months to a year.

The low end option:

The middle of the road:

A little higher end:

Of course, I have no idea what stock my local New Balance store is going to have but this gives me an idea of prices and models available.

Now, for casual shoes, comfortable enough for walking but still dressy enough to wear to work. I have found the best selection and prices at Kohl’s, at least online:

(these might be pushing it a little on the “dressy enough” but under longer black pants, they will never even notice)

Now all I have to do is hope and pray I can find at least 1 black pair and 1 brown pair in my size, at our local Kohl’s store. If not, I will just try on what is available and then order them online. They are having a .99 cent shipping sale – not bad at all!

Seriously if you get those plain 80’s NB no way will I read you anymore!! Whats missing is the velcro strap to hold in your laces…. I would so go for the green or pinks!.. Actually funny you mention Kohls huge SALE on shoes this week.. and B is in desperate need of new shoes. And since he gets new shoes so do I! I like all your shoes you picked out.. but those dreadful plain ol whiteones.

I always get running shoes for everything since you can walk in running shoes, but you can’t run in walking shoes. That 10,000 step program is what got me from smoking and working out occasionally to long distance running! Well, the first step anyway. cute kohls shoes!

I know Piove doesn’t like the plain white NB but I do. I’m a dork, though, so go figure. hehehe I am a die hard NB fan. I won’t work out in anything else. They are narrow enough to my feet/arches good support. I almost melted reading this entry. I looooooove shoes. *sigh*
