Winter Again!

My tagged entry is located one back.

Well, winter has set in once again here at our home!  The snow has been coming down since early this morning.  We’ve only gotten a few inches as of now, but the snow is still coming strong!  When you add that to the 19 inches that still hasn’t had a chance to melt and the 2 inches of ice that is underneath the snow, it makes for interesting times getting around!  I am hoping that it doesn’t get too bad today because we really can’t afford to spend another snow day tomorrow.  We’re getting too close to being out, and then we’ll have to come back and finish after Memorial Day.  That is not my idea of fun.

We hosted a card party at our house last night.  Once a month, we play cards with four other couples.  Trent’s parents, grandparents, and then two couples that are friends of his parents.  It was our turn to host, so I spent yesterday getting snacks ready and cleaning.  I was kind of irritated because one couple waited and called less than an hour ahead of time and said they weren’t coming because it was too cold.  I was kind of upset because here I was with all of this food prepared, and then I didn’t know if anyone else would come.  Trent’s parents and one other couple still came, so we had a good time.  It was nice to socialize a bit and play cards.

Trent’s grandpa went back to Houston this week and they ran a lot of tests on his liver to see if the new chemo is working better than the old kind they were doing,  and it’s not.  The cancer is growing, and his grandpa is in an extreme amount of pain.  They are going to start something experimental here in the near future, and I hope and pray that gives him some relief and can help prolong the growth of the cancer.  I know how much it means to Trent and his grandpa that he get to meet one of our future children, so I hope for nothing less than that.  It’s tough to watch his grandpa go through this.  I have become extremely attached to his grandpa since we started dating, and he loves to give me a hard time.  It’s so odd doing things like playing cards without him there.  Hopefully the new pain medicine they gave him will give him some relief so that he can still enjoy life.

I best get some papers graded so that I don’t have to spend my Sunday evening doing that.  Weather permitting, we have a youth group meeting later this afternoon.  I just want to get some things done so that I can lounge around and enjoy a quiet and relaxing day as the snow comes down outside.

It might be winter there… but it feels like spring here! If you didnt know what month it was, youd swear it was like april or may! its 68 and overcast here. I’m not too fond of snow myself, but I would like to see a little something on the ground. I’m very disappointed it wasnt a white christmas.

RYN: No snow yet! Its supposed to be icy tonight & tomorrow and then snow tomorrow afternoon. Ugh. I usually don’t mind it, but I hate it when I have to drive in it – I unfortunately do not have tomorrow off for MLK day.
