Turkey Day Countdown

Wow, it is hard to believe that this next week is Thanksgiving.  I never dreamed that the first part of the school year would go so quickly!  It doesn’t feel like it should be Thanksgiving already, probably because the weather has been really nice.  On the other hand, I welcome the family time, celebrations, and a mini break from work.  Plus it’s a time to stop and think of all the wonderful things I do have in my life instead of always focusing on what I would like to have more or what could be different for us.  We are fortunate and blessed, and that’s the bottom line.

This past week was a very long one at work.  I’m not sure exactly why, but it did seem to just drag on and on.  I think it’s because my co-worker is approaching her due date, and she is so ready to have the baby.  That means we’re kind of all on pins and needles waiting for it to happen.  Plus, the kids are getting antsy for the hoildays, and they have been really sick lately.  I had at least two students gone every day this past week, and that’s unusual.  Yesterday I had two gone in the morning, one went home within the first hour, and three others went home after lunch.  There is a nasty flu going around, so we were ready for a weekend to be away from one another and to stop sharing germs!

Well, apparently ovulation is going to be a challenge this month.  My temperature still hasn’t spiked, meaning that there hasn’t been any ovulation.  That’s always frustrating because I’m not sure why this has decided to happen since we’ve started trying to conceive.  I did go in a week ago and request they run a full thryoid panel on me to test all of my levels.  The nurse briefly said everything was in the normal range, but the doctor would like to see me to see how I’m feeling and that sort of thing.  That always makes me suspicious.  Our medical doctor doesn’t really know that we’ve been TTC for a while now.  He knew we were getting close to wanting to last time I was in, but that’s it.  Normally when you’re young and healthy, they dont’ want to touch you until you’ve tried 6 months – year, so we were just letting it go.  I go in on Monday.  I’m not sure I want to because I’m afraid he’ll just want to put me on fertility drugs, and that’s frustrating to me.  If something is wrong, I want to find out what it is rather than just mask it with drugs.  We’ll see what he has to say…it shall be interesting!  I was just hoping and praying that I’d ovulate before my appointment so that he couldn’t really say or do anything.  Maybe there’s really nothing wrong with the blood levels and he just wanted to see me to find out why I requested the panel.  I don’t know.  We’ll see!

The husband is bowling in a tournament today, and I think his mom is coming over.  I really need to clean my house and do some laundry, so she may get to watch me do that today.  We play cards tonight, and then Trent also bowls tomorrow.  Sometimes I think that’s all he does on the weekends!  🙂  I’m not sure exactly what I’ll do to occupy my time, but I’m sure I’ll find something!  I am just really excited to only have to work two days this next week and then have a break.  We haven’t had a day off since Labor Day, so I am very ready for it!

Well, I better go start picking up and get some laundry started.  Hope you all are doing well!
