Snow
Yep, we got more snow! It fell really fast yesterday, too. When I looked out at about 2:00, there wasn’t anything on the ground. There was a little when I went over to my faculty meeting at 3:30. When I headed back to my classroom about 30 minutes later, the ground was totally covered. It wasn’t within another 30 minutes that we probably had 4 or 5 inches. It was crazy!
We didn’t actually get much more snow than that, but our roads are still a mess from the big storm we had at New Year’s. It doesn’t take much to make them terrible again! So, we had a snow day today. I was really excited to have a day off to work on my project plans for my graduate class and other homework. I spent 5 hours working on the plans last night but then saw that I had another module of assignments posted. So…needless to say, I spent another 5 or 6 hours doing work today. It feels really good to have that done! I told Trent that God sent me a snow day to help keep my stress level down. hehehe I am so thankful that I was able to get some things done today! Once I get these project plans done and ok’d with my professors, things should go much easier this semester. Then I just go forward with my study in my classroom and write my paper. I will still have little homework assignments here and there, but at least the big planning part will be done.
I also had a dentist appointment today, which went really well. For those of you that don’t remember, I spent years and years avoiding the dentist in the past because I was terrified of them. About a year ago I finally broke down and went. The past year has put me through some major dental things, but I finished with having my wisdom teeth out last summer. Today was just a check up and a cleaning, and things went really well! He didn’t even mention a cavity that needs filled! YAY!!! I was very excited!
My dad has been here staying with us the past two days. He works here in town and has about a 40 mile commute every day. When the weather gets bad, he stays here because there’s no sense in him driving more if he doesn’t have to. So, I am doing some laundry for him now. He wasn’t prepared to have to stay two nights since we were only supposed to get an inch or two. It is kind of fun having him around! I know he feels like he’s intruding a lot of the time, but both my husband and I are used to having our parents around quite a bit and wouldn’t have it any other way. I was so blessed to find a hubby so much like me in that aspect! It makes our relationship a lot smoother sailing when we don’t have to stress or argue about in-laws at all.
Trent has a basketball game he has to cover tomorrow night at the college. I told him he should invite his mom (since his dad will be bowling) and his grandma to come over. I could cook them supper and then us women could all go watch the game together. I think it would be good for his grandma to get out and not sit at home alone on Valentine’s Day with her husband passing away only two weeks ago. I baked cookies for them all, too! I love to do that sort of thing for others.
Well, I better get going. My poor washer is so loud. I had my darn dryer fixed not that long ago for being loud, and then my washer started. Goodness! These appliances are ready to drive me nuts!
I hope you all have a special Valentine’s Day tomorrow! I’m sure my kiddos will be super hyper and excited for their party in the afternoon. We have a math test in the morning, so that will help keep them calm for a while. Have a wonderful day!
Drive safe! We didn’t even get enough to cover the ground, but all the rain sure made things slick this morning… we were on an hour delay. n
