School’s Out for the Summer!
Finally an update from me… Again, I think every entry of mine now starts like that because it seems I am horrible about taking the time to sit down and write. I am really good about keeping up with reading other’s diaries, but I’m not so good otherwise. Maybe now that I will hopefully have a bit more time at home, that will change.
School – – –
Well, we are done for the school year! I now have off until the middle of August, and I must say what a wonderful feeling that is! I am so ready to be a full-time Mommy and enjoy some extra time at home. Maybe then I can keep my house in order, but I’m not making any promises! 🙂 I do have a two-day technology workshop I am doing tomorrow and Friday, but that should really be about it until I head back for next school year.
I had a good end of the year with my students, and many of them were very sad to leave. It’s always hard for me to say good-bye to the students, regardless of the headches and stress they have caused me. I spend so much time with them in a nine month period and watch them grow so much, that it’s always bittersweet to pass them on to the next grade level. These kids are special — they were with me through the whole transformation into motherhood this past year. They were incredible about always asking about how Hannah was doing and always naming their favorite dolls and stuffed animals after her. They were so sweet! I know that they are going to do great things next year in third grade, and I look forward to the new challenge of a different bunch of kids and starting all over again!
Vacation – – –
The weekend after school got out, I spent some time cleaning house and getting things in order and then we headed to Grand Junction on Memorial Day. Trent’s grandma went with us, and she was a huge help with Hannah! Trent’s aunt, uncle, and cousin live in Grand Junction, and it was the first time they had really seen or spent time with Hannah. It was a nice vacation. The altitude killed my sinuses on the way out and Trent’s on the way back, but I think we’re all back to healthy now. It was nice to get away, but it’s also very nice to get home and settled into our summer here. I like for at least part of my summer break to be relaxing and not really planned so that it’s truly a break from the every day hassle of things. Now I’m ready for that time at home.
House Disaster – – –
Yes, we do have a disaster at our house. Our basement has been leaking into one of the bedrooms, and we knew we needed to get some cement poured. Well, we hadn’t gotten to doing that yet and it rained four inches in one day while we were in Colorado. Luckily my parents came over to check on the house because the basement bedroom had water all the way to the doorway. I just feel like the whole basement is disgusting right now. My washer quit a few weeks ago, and I’m still waiting to have that repaired. When it broke, though, it had to leak water all over the laundry room. So between my washer issue, the flooding basement bedroom, and my basement bathroom that has been torn up for the past year and a half, I’m about to pull my hair out. I just want these housing projects to get done so that everything can be fixed and back in order. I’m not the most patient person in the world, and that’s really starting to show the longer these things go unfinished!
Hannah – – –
Our baby girl will be 8 months old tomorrow. Where has the time gone?!? It seems so hard to believe that she’s that old already! She is changing and growing up so fast, and she is becoming more and more fun by the day. Her little personality is growing stronger all the time, and she makes me laugh with her facial expressions and sounds. She imitates about anything that you do, which is hilarious at times! She has down her little Indian sound with her mouth as well as clapping and trying to say "Yay!" and shaking her head no. She is starting to do her own version of the army crawl to get to what she wants, so our house will be a lot more interesting in the coming weeks as she masters crawling and begins to explore more and more the things she shouldn’t be into! She really brightens our day and always has something new to show me! I am excited to have extra time with her this summer, as she’s really starting to get to the fun stage where she learns so many new things each day. We’re trying to start some baby signing, so we’ll see how that goes!
I suppose I’ll close with a few pictures of her from May. With that, I best close and get some other things done since I have to be up early for the conference tomorrow!
Such a cutie!

She is so cute!!! I had a group of 6th graders that moved on this year that were special to me too. They were there when I lost Maddie and then were there when I had Andrew. They were all SOOO excited to meet him! I wish we could get Andrew and Hannah together. That would be so much fun! Andrew is blossoming too. Isn’t it amazing? He’s already 6 MONTHS old! Summer will be fun for both of us!

Awesome, thanks! I was worried about buying a pump and then me not end up using it. I didn’t know I wouldn’t need it right away.

My daughter will be 2 in November and knows a handful of signs. The great thing is she’s pairing words with some of the signs now…she’ll say and sign all done, more…some of the later ones she learned she just signs…but I really love it and people are always amazed…LOL.
