Monday, Monday

Yes, it now Monday afternoon and my nephew’s 1st birthday party has come and gone.  He is such a cutie.  Being around him just makes me excited to hopefully someday have a family of my own and be able to raise my own precious little children.  In God’s time…

Trent’s nephew made his way out here last night.  Trent is helping his dad here at their house today, so I am also here.  Tyrel has been out and about doing things on the farm or helping the guys downstairs, so I guess I am not really needed for much.  I figure he may get a bit bored later on and maybe we can run into town for a drink or something like that.  It’s kind of nice to get out of our house for the day and just relax at someone else’s house.  It at least gives me a change of scenery!

Trent gets his wisdom teeth pulled at 8 tomorrow morning.  He only has three of them, so that should make it a little easier.  I just hope that I can get him to sleep some during the day because I think that helps you heal better.  As long as I make him a bed on the couch, give him the remote, and he can watch sports all day he’ll be fine!  🙂  I think he’s like I was a year ago and just ready to get it over with.  Mine went really well and the same dentist is doing his, so hopefully his will go just as well.

I really need to get into my classroom and start organizing things.  I have a bit of a mess left behind from the teacher that had the room before me.  She also taught 3rd grade, so she left all kinds of things relevant to my grade level.  I appreciate it, but I probably won’t use it.  One thing I have learned is that as teachers you tend to use what you already have and what you’ve already used in the past rather than taking the time to sort through other people’s files and find new material.  I think that’s just a time issue.  It’s quicker and easier to go with what you know and what you know has worked in the past.  That’s all right, though, because it’ll give me a chance to better organize my own files.  They are supposed to be fixing the plaster on one of my walls today and then hopefully painting, so then I can get in there and do some work.   I am wanting to paint a saying and/or a simple picture on the one wall that tends to crumble when  you use sticky-tack and things on it so that it’s a more permanent decoration, but I’m not the most artistic.  Does anyone have ideas or suggestions or know of a place that has anything available for teachers to use in their rooms like a mural?  I’m always open to new ideas!

Well, I better close.  I hope that everyone had a good weekend.

I hope Trent’s wisdom teeth removal goes well! Mine wasn’t too bad. Some sleep, medicine, and relaxing surely help. I’ve seen teachers have a picture of the world painted with lots of kids around it of different ethnicities holding hands. It might even be fun to wait until the school year starts and get your kids to help you out. Ashley

Trent’s wisdom teeth should go fine!! He’ll probably sleep as a result of the drugs they give him to knock him out. I was pretty groggy from the time I got home till about 3-3:30 the day of mine when I got mine out. Hope you’re able to get into your classroom soon! 🙂
