Making Progress

That’s right!  I am making progress in my classroom, which is a great feeling!  I managed to get my hubby to go up to the school with me last night about 9 o’clock and put in three hours of work.  He was a lot of help, and I was able to get a lot more done because I could have him do some of the things around the room while I organized and put up bulletin boards and things.  Plus, I had someone taller to hang things higher up in the room, which is always easier if I don’t have to do a balancing act on top of a desk.    Now I feel as though I am a little more prepared, and that always makes me feel better.  Now I can really take a a few days off to just be at home and relax before school starts again because I don’t feel as though I have a million things left to get done.  That’ll be nice!

The in-laws got us all tickets to the Royals game next Saturday, so we’ll all be heading to KC.  I am thinking about going early on Wednesday to go to Dodge Buck Night with my best friend and also try and catch up with some other friends from high school and college.  It seems when I venture to KC that I usually only see my one friend or my sister-in-law, so it’d be really nice to see everyone else this trip as well. I haven’t fully decided if I’ll go early because the hubby has in-service Friday and would have to wait and come with his parents anyway.  That’s a long trip to make by myself, but at least he’d be able to ride back home with me.  We’ll see what I decide this week…  I better start deciding something, though, because I need to get in touch with people if I’m going to be there.

Today is kind of a dreary day around here.  It rained this morning, so it’s just very muggy outside right now with no sunshine.  I really want to go through the house today, pick out things that can be sold at a garage sale, and do some major cleaning.  It has been a while since I did an intense cleaning job, and I think today may be the day to do it again!  I’m not sure if I can recruit the hubby to help me or not, but I’ll try!  I’m hoping to have a garage sale in about two weeks to help my mom get some furniture sold that was my grandma’s so that she can buy new.  It’s furniture that nobody in the family wants, so we need to get rid of it somehow so that my parents can get some new furniture that they like and want.  Garage sales are always so much work, though, and I don’t always have great success.  I just don’t want to still be stuck with a bunch of stuff at the end of the garage sale.  Hopefully we’ll get our things together and be able to pull it off in the next few weeks.

Life otherwise has been fairly uneventful for me.  I am just trying to savor every last minute that I have left of summer.  Now that my birthday has come and gone, I know that school is inching closer and closer.  Once my birthday hits, I always know that there’s no more denying the fact that I have to head back to work soon.  I don’t dread heading back to work as much as I dread starting back up on my grad classes.  Yuck!  At least I only have one more year left, right?  Even that doesn’t seem to console me much right now as I think of another year of working and taking classes…  Oh, well!

Have a happy week, everyone!  For those fellow teachers out there, take some time off to relax and treat yourself to at least one more lazy day before heading back to work full-time!

Lucky! Our principal is mean and won’t let us get our classrooms ready. We have to sneak in with the help of the custodians.
