It’s Sunday already?

That’s kind of how I am feeling today.  We went back to school last Friday for one day since the weather permitted, and then it was time for the weekend!  Friday was kind of a goof off day where we did a lot of the fun activities that we would’ve done before Christmas had we not had three snow days right before Christmas break.  It was a nice way to come back to school, and it was a blessing to just have one day before the weekend.

Now I have spent the weekend trying to get things ready for this semester.  We redid our reading groups, so now I have to find books and make sure I have activities to go with them for each of my three reading groups.  That always takes a lot of planning time up front, and then it’s not so bad.  I am also trying to plan out things for social studies, so I am wanting to plan around projects that my grad class may have me do later in the semester.  I know what I want to do for my research project this semester, so I need to make sure and save those lessons for that time in the semester.  I want to have things all planned out so that it’s less work later, but that’s leaving me feeling rather overwhelmed today.  I meant to get out of bed earlier yesterday and get a lot more done than I did, but I needed a bit of a break yesterday, too.  I always have big ideas for the weekends but then just want to relax a little instead.

Our principal was called in for jury duty this week, so that good news is that the faculty meeting for tomorrow has been cancelled.  That means I’ll have a little extra time in my classroom after school and then will hopefully be able to come home earlier.  This week is going to feel long enough since it’s our first full week back since the break.  Those weeks are always exhausting because I’m trying to adjust back to a school work schedule.

They say we are supposed to get another big snow storm at the end of this week.  We  are still driving on a foot of ice and snow, and I’m not sure what we would do with any more.  The piles really haven’t started to melt at all.  I hope we get some good melting time before another major storm moves in.  This is the most snow we’ve had during an entire winter in a long time!  I don’t mind the snow days off of work, but I really don’t want to be making up work days after Memorial Day, either.  Oh, well.  There’s nothing I can do about the weather.  Just go with it and enjoy the beauty of the snow!

I hope you are all having a great Sunday!  I better get a few things done this afternoon so that I don’t feel so behind.  Have a great week!
