It’s finally summer!!

Now that summer break is officially here, I am trying to get caught up on the rest of my life so that I can sit back a bit and actually enjoy being at home with Hannah all summer.  I know that it has been forever since I have updated, and I am sorry about that.  The spring semester always seems to catch me by surprise, and I get caught up in a million things going on around me, and then my internet time becomes very limited.

As for the last few months….

  • The end of the school year went very well.  I am going to miss my kiddos, but I was very excited for summer break to get here (and they were, too).  I had a few with lots of tears on the last day, which always makes it harder to say good-bye.  Such sweet children with very kind hearts.  I am going to miss them.  We did have a wonderful year, but they were ready to move on.

  • I survived the budget crisis again this year with education in our district.  I feel blessed to have a job.  There are a few changes going on around me that’ll change things a bit, but it seems like the last few years we make the best with what we have, pick up the pieces, and charge forward.  One major change next year is that I will be teaching social studies in my own classroom.  It had been integrated with art / music in a special section called Learning Lab; however, personnel changes have put it back into the classroom.  I am actually very excited to teach my own social studies once again (I taught my own when I taught 3rd grade), and I think that it’s a really fun topic to teach to this age group.  At some point I’ll have to sit down and do some planning in regard to what I’m going to teach, but I’ll save that for later.

  • We were on the road a lot in May for graduations and other family things.  It’s always nice to get out of town and enjoy some family time, but man does my house suffer when we’re gone for multiple weekends at a time.  All last week I spent cleaning out rooms (getting ready for a garage sale this weekend) and reorganizing things.  We did some changes to our basement, so we were painting and rearranging furniture down there.  Very blessed to have our sitter keep Hannah all last week so that we could focus and concentrate on the house a bit before diving into summer break.

  • So while my job is safe due to budgets, Trent wasn’t so lucky.  He was told the last Monday of the school year that his contract at the college would not be renewed for next year.  So, he is job hunting right now.  There is another opening at the college that he applied for, but he’ll have to interview and jump through all of those hoops again.  He has sent out letters and talked to some people, but nobody really seems to be hiring right now.  We are blessed in that he will still get a paycheck through August, and then we’ll go from there if he hasn’t found something.  It’s not the end of the world, and I always says that God sometimes sends us the biggest blessings in disguise.  We just never know…  We are confident that the right thing will come along for us.  In the meantime, we’re just going to trust in God and what His plans are for Trent.  You never know, he may get some extra daddy/daughter time when the school year starts!  ðŸ™‚

  • Last, but certainly not least, we have other news from our household:

Yes, that’s right…Miss Hannah is going to be a big sister.  Our little blessing is due October 30th, and we couldn’t be happier.  Hannah seems very excited that we’re going to have a baby in the house, and I know that she is going to be so much help.  So along with the craziness of the second semester at work, I added feeling yucky and very little energy to it.  I am starting to perk up a bit and have a bit more energy, but it’s still so much harder the second time around when I have another little one to chase around and keep up with.  Regardless, we wouldn’t have it any other way!!

So there is a quick recap of what’s happening on our lives.  Trent and I did escape to the mountains this past weekend to celebrate our 6th anniversary.  Had a wonderful time relaxing with just the two of us.

I better go.  My laptop battery is warning me that it’s ready to be charged!  Hope you are all doing well!
