Frustrated

To begin on a happy note, our trip to Las Vegas was wonderful!  I really needed that hubby time because I felt like we hadn’t been able to spend much time together like we normally do in the summer with him working for his dad.  It was beyond hot there, and I definitely had to take it slow because the heat really gets to me, but it was a neat place to go and see all of the lights!  We basically just did some sight-seeing and we did go to the musical Mama Mia!  It was so good!  It was a great trip, and I’m gald that we decided to do it now while we had the chance.  I was exhausted when we did make it home, but it was well worth it!

Then we were home for two days before Trent set out on a baseball trip with his dad.  They left last week Wednesday and will be home tomorrow.  I was such a baby when he left and I cried and cried.  I can definitely tell that the hormones are really kicking in now because I have been way more emotional than normal.  It sounds like they are having a really good time going from ballpark to ballpark and watching baseball, and I know that this is such a neat opportunity for him to be with his dad.  On the other hand, I am so ready for my husband to be  back!  I went and spent last weekend with my parents so that I wasn’t in the empty, quiet house by myself.  That helped, but now that I am back at home, I want my hubby back!!

Now on the not-so-happy note, I am so frustrated with Nebraska Furniture Mart.  There is nowhere around here to buy baby furniture (unless we order it out of a catalog without truly seeing it, which I have a hard time doing), so we looked in Kansas City when we were there in the spring.  Then when I went back for my sister-in-law’s baby shower, I stopped by and ordered it.  We ordered the conversion crib, dresser w/ hutch to go on top, nightstand, and then the conversion rails and things to use later.  Needless to say, we spent a lot of money with them for this furniture.  Well, my mother-in-law was going to KC last weekend and offered to pick up some of our furniture if it was in.  They hadn’t called me, so I assumed it hadn’t come in yet.  We wanted a different wood finish than the showroom one, so they had to special order everything.  I called them, and sure enough!  The furniture was in.  I was a little irritated because they hadn’t called me like they said they would.  Anyway, my mother-in-law goes and gets the dresser to bring back.  Then that leaves me with the other pieces of furniture still there.  So, my mom and I decide to road trip it Monday to pick up the rest.  We were amazed that they fit it all in the minivan, and I was so darn excited for Trent to get home so we can set up the nursery.  Now I know the  baby isn’t due for 2 1/2 months, but with me heading back to work teaching a new grade next month, I really want all of this done before school starts.  Anyway, we get the furniture to my house, unload it, and then notice that the wood finishes don’t match each other.  The dresser and hutch are the right finish, but the nightstand is Walnut, and the crib is Cabernat — both of which are wrong.  I just wanted to cry.  So I have spent lots of time on the phone with the furniture store, and I have spoken to some very rude customer care people.  They basically told me that it was my fault because I didn’t check before leaving the warehouse.  I’m sorry, but I don’t feel it’s my job to open up all of the boxes and check it since it says for me to stay in the vehicle and they load it for me.  I had the order right there, and it was all correct, so I assumed the order was right.  Long story short (as if this hasn’t been long enough), they aren’t sure where the correct crib and nightstand are, so they are having to place another special order.  Know when it’s expected to arrive?  September 11th!!  Yes, that’s right, three weeks before my actual due date.  I know it should be fine and that I probably won’t go that early, but it’s irritating when I placed the order on June 1st.  Grrrrrr!!  I guess it’s a good thing that I did go ahead and buy the furniture early since it’s still barely going to make it here on time.  I don’t think that I’ll be returning to Nebraska Furniture Mart for any more items in the future.  After having spent all the money with them that I have, I don’t think that their customer care people had a right to blame this on me, especially since they don’t even know where the correct pieces are.

That’s about all the excitement that I’ve had in my life lately.  I really need to start thinking about school and getting things ready to head back to school.  I need to go up and dedicate a day to getting some things ready and copied, and then I should be able to take a break again.  Maybe I’ll think about that next week….  🙂

I hope you all had a great 4th of July!  Enjoy the upcoming weekend!

When you talked with the customer service dept. did you ask to speak to a supervisor? Perhaps you need to go up a few levels to get the treatment you deserve… or threaten to return the purchase and take your business elsewhere. You certainly do not deserve rude treatment after making a substantial purchase. I can not believe that you are due that soon!!! It seriously seems like yesterday (c)

That is a complete bummer about the furniture! What a disappointment too. Hopefully they get their act together and you get what you need in time. What will you do when you have the baby? Will you take off a few weeks, or longer? Ashley
