For Valentine’s Day

There is a real entry one back…  I had to do this survey in honor of Valentine’s Day!!

Married name:  Brenda ****
Spouses name:   Trent ****
Spouses age :  26

How long did you date? We dated for 1 1/2 years before getting engaged, and then we were engaged for 1 1/2 years.  I wanted to teach a year before getting married.

When did you get engaged?
October 25, 2003

How did you get engaged?
He took me out to the nicest restaurant in town.  We were all dressed up, but I didn’t think anything of it because I had just been complaining we hadn’t been on a date in a while.  We had dinner, then he took me back to his apartment.  He was acting really goofy, but I didn’t think anything of it.  He finally came out into the living room and got down on one knee.  We called everyone we knew to tell them the news, and then we went out and met up with some friends.

When did you get married?  May 28, 2005

Indoor/outdoor wedding? Indoor

Church/chapel?
Church

How many guests did you have?  Between the wedding and the reception, about 300.

What city/town did you marry in?  Trent’s hometown, Oakley

What was total cost of the wedding?  By the time you consider dresses and clothes for the wedding party and everything, probably about $10,000.  It’s crazy how fast things added up!

Write your own vows?  Nope.  We went the traditional route.

What were your wedding colors?  Light pink, silver, and white.

Theme?  Very traditional and romantic.

What were the flowers? My sister-in-law made all of the flowers.  We used mainly pink and white roses.

How many in the wedding party? Each of us had four attendants.

What did you walk down the aisle to?  The traditional

Where was your reception?  In an American Legion in the town where I lived when I was a little one.  It was the only place in the area that was air conditioned and could hold enough people.

What did you serve?  Everything was homemade — a family friend and his wife cooked.  We had mashed potatoes, roast beef, chicken and noodles, corn/green beans, rolls, the whole nine yards!

Alcohol?  Only what people paid for.  I can proudly say nobody left our wedding intoxicated.

What song was your first dance to?  Keeper of the Stars

Last dance song?  I’m really not sure.  I do remember that Trent’s dad did the YMCA with me!!

Who caught the bouquet?  Trent’s sister — it was a little rigged, perhaps!

Who caught the Garter?  Trent’s old roommate, Nick

Cake smashed in face?  No way!  We were both very sweet!

What did grooms cake look like?  There wasn’t one.

What was the send off like?  People just lined up to watch us load up in the car and go!

Best gift you got?  Having so many people share in our wedding day was the biggest gift of all!

What from your wedding was unique?  Between my parents, Trent’s parents, and his grandparents, they represented 110 years of combined marriage.  I think that’s awesome!

Where did you go on your wedding night?  We drove our entire wedding night four hours to get to the airport in Wichita on time to fly out for Disney World!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?  We did the whole Disney land and sea thing — awesome!

Which wedding pic if your favorite?  I loved the all!  Our photographer was fantastic!

Funniest wedding memory?  Hmmm…I’m not sure anything really funny happened that day.  The strangest thing was that it went from sunny to rainy to sunny to a dirt storm to nasty weather back to sunshine and a rainbow.

Worst wedding memory?  There wasn’t a bad memory from the day — that wedding day was perfect!  Trent did a few things to stress me out the day before the wedding, but it was all good by then!

If you could do it all over again would you? I would do it all again — hands down.

What would you change about your wedding?  Nothing

Three things you love about your spouse? We have fun and laugh together, he is so carefree, and he loves me with all that he has

Does your spouse have a myspace?  No.

Would you ever renew your vows?  Hopefully we’ll be able to do that on our 50th anniversary.

Do you have children?  Not yet.

Are you happy? Very happy — I love being married.

What about your spouse drives you crazy?  He watches sports 24 hours a day and can’t get motivated to finish his thesis for his Master’s.

Whats his worst habit?  Being too carefree at times.

Whats your favorite thing to do together?  I love to just spend an evening with him.

How has being married changed you?  I wouldn’t say it has changed me.  I just feel more secure and settled now.

Are you still in love?  I fall more in love all the time.

Ever cheated?  No way.  We made a commitment before God to stay true to one another.

<stro

ng>Have they? No

What is your favorite memory so far of being married?  I have loved being able to travel as husband and wife.

Best gift they ever gave you?  He has given me himself.

How do you celebrate each anniversary?  We’ve only had one so far, and for that one we went to Colorado Springs and stayed at a Bed and Breakfast for the weekend.

What about the "in-laws"?  They are incredible people!  They are most definitely a second mom and dad to me.

Do you live far away from your families?  Nope!  My parents live the furthest, and that’s 40 miles.

Any big plans for this year? Hopefully Trent will finish his Master’s degree, and I’ll be close to being done with mine.  Maybe then we’ll be talking about babies.

What tv shows do you watch together?  We love One Tree Hill & Gilmore Girls

How long will you stay married? ‘Til death do us part…
