Easter and Other Things
Easter has come and gone! It is so hard to believe that another holiday is now past. Time just seems to have a way of getting away from me, and I have been terrible about writing in here. I manage to read updates and write a few notes in the morning while drying my hair for work, but that’s about it. Sorry I have let this lapse a little.
Easter was really nice! It was so great to have my brother and his family here for a few days. I love spending time with my niece and nephew. With Baby Ryan being here, I got in some cuddle and love time, which I always love! He’s the type of happy baby that really makes me want to have one of my own! hehehe They came in last Friday and then stayed until Sunday. My parents came over Friday night and we had supper together.
Saturday was Trent’s big day with his family and my family all getting together. We had a big meal for supper and then headed to the Easter Vigil that started at 9:00 that night. Trent was baptized, confirmed, and received communion for the first time. It was such a neat experience! We have really had an incredible faith journey this past year together, and I know that can only help make our marriage stronger. We have been very blessed!
Sunday we squeezed in time with both families, and then Monday found me back at work. Things at work have still be frustrating lately with teachers switching positions and everything else. The principal really hasn’t been keeping us informed, so none of us really know what is going on right now. I hate feeling like everything is a big secret when I work there, but I guess that’s the way it is. The other 3rd grade teacher that I am really close to has made the choice to move up to 5th grade next year. I will more than miss her, but I know that she’s doing what is best for her and I am so happy for her in that way! Now it’s just sitting and waiting to see what the principal has in mind for replacing her in my grade level. The good news is that I get to move to the other 3rd grade teachers’ room which is like 1 1/2 times the size of mine now. That’ll be great to have the extra room! I can’t believe that we’re already at this point in the school year, but another part of me is more than ready for a break from some of the issues I’ve dealt with one a regular basis this school year and move on to another chapter.
I am heading to Wichita Thurday morning for a reading conference, so I have a sub for Thursday and Friday. My kids always panic when I have a sub for some reason. It makes me feel really guilty for leaving them, but I keep telling myself that I also need a break once in a while. They are a group that really like things to remain consistent and on schedule, so I am sure they can really throw fits for a sub. I just hope and pray that a few of mine keep their attitudes and anger in check while I am gone so that there aren’t too many problems. I know I shouldn’t worry about it, but I always do when I’m gone. I am really excited to be going with the other teachers that are going. They are so fun, and I know we’ll have a great time! It will be a nice break from the ordinary daily routine.
My grad class is coming right along. I finally got my rough draft of my paper back from my professor after she’s had it for like 3 weeks. I spent 6 1/2 hours last night correcting it, which was beyond frustrating, but I am so relieved to now have it done. I keep telling myself that I am almost half-way there and to hang in. I am more than ready to get rid of the extra added stress, though, and the hours of sitting in front of the computer each week doing homework. This summer will be a nice break from it all!
Trent and I need to book our summer Disney trip. We have decided to fork over the money and just go because we know we won’t do it once we have children. I am so ready to go back! I know we shouldn’t spend the money, but I am so careful when it comes to spending money the rest of the time that we deserve a treat like this once in a while! I need to get the trip booked, though, so that things are ready to go! I can’t wait much longer; summer is quickly approaching!
Well, I have laundry and things to tend to. Hope everyone had a great Easter!
I’m glad you had such a pleasant Easter! A trip to Disney would be a great thing. Even if it costs a bit. Ashley

RYN: No, I drove to Derby. In reality that’s not THAT far, but after a morning of inservice meetings and having to rush back, it SEEMED like forever! I’m starting to feel like crap though, because several of my peers (even one in my content area) are getting jobs… and… well, I’m not… How close to graduation before you had an offer? n

Glad things are going well. Yes, Elementary school kids always seem a bit tore up to have their regular teacher gone. I guess they really need that routine. I’m sure it doesn’t scar them for life though 😉 Hope you have a great trip to Disney and good luck w/ your grad class!
