Progress!
I figure I should start with the fun stuff so I don’t bore you too much! This weekend was fantastic! Rosie had an amazing trip to the doggie park yesterday. But it wasn’t just any dog park. It was SHY DOG PARK back at her old Rescue. The rescue put together this event specifically by invitation only for graduates of their Project Home Life. PHL is a program for rescued puppy mill breeders and other severely troubled dogs.
I have to say that I really didn’t think that it would be that big of a deal. Rosie just loves all dogs and we’ve tried taking her to regular dog parks and she’s been ok for the most part. She did really well up until the last trip when she got slammed by a crazy running dog who ran right into her. That freaked here out enough that she’s skittish on her walks now when she hears other dogs.
Anyway, I figured she might sniff around the whole time and perhaps interact with one other dog. And that’s what she did at the beginning, but as more and more dogs showed up and she got more and more in the middle of everything, it was just like this door opened inside of her and she just really stepped out. I almost cried a few times from the joy of watching her! She even had a moment of craziness where she sprinted all around the field!! Amazing for a 12 year old!!
She started by being Velcro with just one other dog, but by the end she was trying to initiate play with just about anyone she came into contact with! And… this is the craziest part… she found her old sister!!! The one she was locked in the greenhouse with! It was just crazy… I spotted her trying to play with this reddish Golden so I walked over and asked the lady standing there who it was. She told me and as we were talking we figured out that they were in the greenhouse together! Amazing!!! It was just a really awesome day for her.
Saturday, Mich and I celebrated our 5 years together by going out to a nice seafood place and then stopping by her parents’ house. We got to meet her niece’s new boyfriend. They surprised us by stopping by. The poor guy looked as scared as I felt the first time I walked into their house, but I think we made him feel pretty welcome. Oh, and we also booked our trip to Disney!! Yea!!!
This month is going to be so crazy! I leave on Wednesday to go to our Miami, FL office for three days. It’s going to be in the low 80s the whole time I’m there. It’s a good thing I didn’t put my summer clothes bin back in the attic yet! I’ve got to pull out a few things to wear while I’m there. I’ll get home very late on Friday.
On Saturday, we are going to New Jersey to see our fav band play. CanNOT wait since they will probably have new material to perform!!
Next week will be a pretty normal week except that I’m heading off to a yoga retreat for the weekend and I’ll leave on Friday afternoon. I’m looking forward to getting away. I’m going to the Himalayan Institute. I’ve never been there… I’ve been such a Kripalu brat all these years!
Work was a bit crazy last week being the end of the month. The end of the month is now going to be my crazy time ever since I started helping with the marketing stuff. I guess I’ll have to get used to it and hopefully my boss will lay off me on those days. I can’t complain too much though. Marketing is what’s going to get me down to Miami more often!
A shy dog park sounds really awesome! And it’s beyond amazing she saw her sister, that is soooooo sweet!
