Fur Kids Its always something
Rosie is feeling better and has REALLY come out of her shell. She is happier and spunkier and braver than ever before. Boy does she love her walks. She stands at the gate with her nose down and squeezed between the gap and when we open the gate, she takes off. We have started doing a countdown like she’s in a race. It’s crazy. She’ll go next week for another check-up of her ears. We are hoping that she’ll behave and he’ll get a good look. If not, she’ll have to be sedated so that they can get the scope down there. She has to stay on these antibiotics until her eardrums are better. In the meantime, it appears she’s strained a muscle or something… she’s been a little creaky and limping a little. We are hopeful it’s nothing serious.
Today I’m home to help take care of the kids because Mich started back to school today and will be gone the entire day. It’s a good thing I stayed home because Amos has been puking all morning. I’m not sure what to do… We think he might have eaten something a while ago, but neither of us saw anything until today with him vomiting like crazy. I’m hoping he just gets out whatever is upsetting him. I have some Pepcid from when he was sick before and I’m torn between giving it to him or just letting him go so he can get out whatever is in him.
Shanti and Rosie were in a territory war for a little while. Rosie figured out that she could push Shanti’s room door open and she kept going in to eat Shanti’s food and then she was peeing on the floor!! She does not have a potty problem anywhere else in the house and the vet said none of her meds would give her one… so we started putting the gate up in front of Shanti’s room door and voila, she’s not peeing on the floor anymore. The only good thing to come of that little episode was that Rosie seems a little bit less afraid of Shanti now! LOL
Mich’s nephew’s dog died last week. Their dog, Lilly, was their child until they had an actual baby earlier this year. Lilly was a little neglected, but still loved. Mich’s sister is out staying with them and noticed Lilly was peeing blood. Turns out she had a huge tumor in her stomach that burst and they had to have her put down. They weren’t handling it well. It’s very sad. She was young.
In the meantime, back here, Mich’s sisters very old dog was being cared for by her parents. They said she’s been waking up every night crying nonstop. Mich has told them over and over again that there is something wrong with her (Hanna) and now it’s come down to Hanna going to the vet’s office and they advise putting her to sleep. She is all skin and bones and can’t even walk anymore and she wouldn’t even eat food yesterday. Mich’s niece is coming home tonight and will go to the vet probably to say goodbye. Mich’s sister and B-I-L are not going to be here when their dog is put to sleep. Also very sad.
These fur kids capture our hearts and never stay with us long enough. I’m so happy to have the freedom and flexibility to stay home and spend time with ours.
I’m excited to have my own fur baby soon! Ashley
