A day to decide
I’ve gone over the details of my day with my mom and with Mich so I am kinda over it now and don’t really feel like writing it all out.
However, I do have to say that I was pretty happy with how things went. The drive is a bit long… but overall a peaceful drive. Not stop and go, just smooth highway driving. The office is beautiful and the people were really nice, including the owners. They are super flexible and have really great benefits. I talked briefly (and awkwardly) to my old boss about money… we left things on a good note and he told me to take until Friday to think about it. I already have an e-mail drafted, so tomorrow I’ll look it over and send it. Today is a completely free day for me (no yoga, no committments), so I can really take the day to think about it.
I am 99% sure I am going to take the job. The drive is one of the few cons about it. These are the things on my mind right now:
Pros
Cons
Making good money
Working for a good company
I know who I’d work for and I like working for him
Boss has vision of growth and giving me more responsibilities
Feeling a sense of accomplishment
A stable future
Great benefits
I can still teach the yoga classes I want
I can get rid of the classes I don’t want
In fact, boss WANTS me to keep teaching yoga
Coworkers seem really nice
Highly flexible schedule
Get to work from home
Future predictions of driving into the office less
55 mile drive – in one direction
Working 40 hours a week
May be more stress
Not as much "me time"
A lot more sitting
Dogs will be home alone more
My mom said that if I’m offered less than I asked for, I should try to negotiate for a review in 90 days to talk about an increase. She made a good point that the wear and tear on my car and my body from the long drives IS worth extra money. However, I have a feeling that I’m not going to need to fight over money. He knows what I’m worth and I think he’s so desperate for good help that he will accommodate my request.
Life is changing again, but that’s ok… Change always keeps things interesting.
It has been so cold here that I think the dogs would rather stay in the house. They go out to go potty and then go back to the door to come back in. I think its ok to skip their walks today…. who knows… maybe later.
In other news, I booked myself a trip to Kripalu for R&R. I leave the afternoon of 2/1/13 and get home the evening of 2/3/13. I figured a little retreat before I start back to work is in order. I invited a yoga friend to go along with me. She’s wanted to go but is afraid to drive by herself. I’m happy to have a friend to go with and I’m happy that I get to go. Mich has to work on Saturdays now, so, she told me just to go and enjoy myself. I can’t wait.
good luck with your decision.. I think the working from home this would make this wonderful if that really would happen

Yay, you’re going to Kripalu..I know how you love it there and the timing couldn’t be better. Enjoy the R&R for your body and your mind. It’s been frigid here as well. I’ll be glad for a warm up – heck getting up to 20 would be a huge improvement!
