12 Days of Xmas – 2013

The office is so quiet today. Basically just the support staff. I guess my boss is either working from home or out on the road. I don’t even know.

Last night Mich and I searched again for airfare to Disney. It’s amazing, but to take Southwest from Philly it’s like $170 one way which I thought was a good price. She told me to check Allegiant from our local tiny airport and prices were $70 one way. That’s insane and so much more convenient. I’m still not sure if we will just go to the parks or if we will take the cruise. I’m leaning towards the parks because getting our passports in time just seems too stressful.

I’ve been working on the 12 Days of Christmas for this year. I decided to go with the egg theme. I didn’t even realize I was doing it, but I already bought her an actual gift that fits with the theme. We have a Peeps retail store in town (the company that makes Peeps, Just Borne, is based in our town). We had been shopping in that store together one day and she saw a Lenox egg platter – all pastels and pretty. She said she wanted it, but then saw the price and changed her mind. I decided to buy it for her. She will be surprised because she will have forgotten about it.

Anyway, I plan to take an old egg carton and put a bunch of plastic Easter eggs inside. I’ll just fill the carton all at once and have her open one a day. It will be pretty obvious what I’m doing after the first day, so there’s no point in trying to hide all 12 eggs.

Anyway, I already found really silly kids egg jokes which she will love because she loves stupid jokes. She loves bad puns too. It’s endearing really. And I found cute little eggs/love pictures and cartoons to go on the notes I’ll write. I was trying to figure out how to come up with egg analogies for our love, but I’m was struggling. I finally settled on 12 different ways to cook eggs… and turning that into 12 different ways our love is like eggs… Like scrambled, sunny side up, etc. You get the point. I just need to write them.

I have no idea what I’ll do next year… I think this was my final idea on the list I had made of things I could do with a “12” theme for the 12 days of xmas. There aren’t a ton of things that come in dozens. Anyway, typically I put a piece of candy in with the surprise and maybe a little stocking stuffer gift. This year, because the package is so small, I might just stick with the candy and the note. Maybe I should safe all the gifts for her actual stocking.
