That time of year again
Yep, the parents will be here on Monday. They’ll be here all next week. I love seeing them. Really I do. But, I hate having to "entertain" for so long and how it messes up my normal schedule. Plus, I always have to deal with Derek for a few weeks afterwards and get him back out of the spoiled stage. Logan isn’t old enough to get that way quite yet. And, at this time of year, it doesn’t do much good, because as soon as we get away from it, Christmas is here, and he’s getting spoiled again. We’re going home for Christmas this year. I’m not overly thrilled about it. Part of the reason being, I don’t want to go up and deal with the super cold weather. Plus, our trips home are not very relaxing for me because we’re always on the go to make sure everyone gets their fair share of seeing us. I need a vacation from my vacation by the time we get back home.
Our menu for Thursday consists of:
Chips and cheese
Summer sausage, cheese, and crackers
Olives
Turkey
Glazed Ham
Stuffing (in the turkey and the crockpot)
Mashed Potatoes and Gravy
Green Bean Casserole
Brocolli and cheese casserole
Deviled Eggs
Candied yams
Rolls
Cherry Cheesecake
Pumpkin Pie
Apple Pie
I still have no idea what the boys are going to get for Christmas, or where I’m coming up with the money for it for that matter. We are so broke this year, and with going home, we need an extra $500 or so for gas and food and stuff while we are there. Ugh. Oh, and of course, the car demon has found us. Matt’s car needs so much work done to it right now, but we can’t afford any of it for now. Hopefully everything holds out til after the first of the year, and preferrable til tax time. I hate being broke. Everytime I think we are starting to get back on our feet and might even be able to actually save something, something happens to take all that extra money, and then some.
Not sure when I wrote last. Logan took his first few steps a few weeks ago. Nothing much since then, though. He’ll take those few steps to us on rare occassions, but he seems content just crawling around for now. I hope he starts walking soon. He has a new favorite toy in Derek’s room. He loves playing with the Rescue Hero’s Tower that we have. He also really likes Derek’s fire truck that makes noise. He hardly ever plays with his own toys. Derek is still loving school. He’s learning so much. It’s amazing. Best of all, though, is that he graduated from speech therapy this past Monday!!! He’s still getting 30 mintues/week through the school, but that’s just because it was set up on his IEP already. I don’t think he needs that, either. I’m thrilled for many reasons…obviously because his speech is so much better, but also because I no longer have to drive the hour to and from Jacksonville each week for his speech therapy. I think our gas bill should be cut in at least half now.
Nothing else exciting happening around here. It’s friggin’ cold here to day. It got down into the low 30’s or maybe even the 20’s last night. I hate cold weather.
Until next time…
Yay for Derek! Jacob prefers toys that aren’t his too. Like daddy’s PS2 or anything that Mama doesn’t want him to have. *smirk* Right now he’s playing with a magnifying glass (nonbreakable) and a nipple shield. Go figure! Good luck with the holiday money situation. I so understand. *hugs*
