Awoke too early with a thirst I could not quench
I think it was the dreams
But, I could not return to them as usual
Too hot, too cold, unbearable thirst
And a feeling that something wasn’t right
Kissed him goodbye
And walked an early walk
In darkness before the lights of the day could touch me
Twinkling street lights and a few busy bodies
Lurk about preparing for their Monday
But, most is quiet, reflective,
Anxious for the day to start
Not I
I wish to curl in bed with him again
Quench the thirst in my body, mind, and spirit
Walk a late walk
When the day’s lights have already begun to shine
There is beauty in morning darkness, though
With sweet sounds of birds in trees
And crisp, cool air that greets your face
And wakes your senses
I will not give up today
My thirst has left with only traces
My eyes grow heavy
To bed again before the sun hits the sky
Perhaps I can sleep again
May my dreams keep their distance
Dreams suck. Water is good. Don’t waste the day if you don’t want to.

Pretty, sad, but pretty. Why so solemn? You wake up and your man is there. Isn’t that a good thing. [pause, drool] Sorry, hottie just walked past my desk. Anyways, why so sad? Things are goin’ good, right?
