UNIVERSE! Make up your mind please!

Ha! Ha ha! Right!

So, I bought my car; my pretty, happy little black Fiat 500 on January 7th, 2013 and it’s the best little car in the world. I love it so much. It just LOOKS like it’s in a good mood all the time and that makes me happy. I keep it clean and wash it and don’t leave stuff in it (besides books, which will never be helped). I love my car.

On February 27th I was driving on the highway on my break and this jackass in one of those huge ford pickup with the raised frames, you know, so there’s like a ten inch gap between the tires and the wheel wells? You know, like something that makes NO SENSE IN A CITY! went and decided to merge into my lane without making sure there might not be a little car in his blind spot. But there was, and I didn’t see him until the last minute and I swerved and hit a guard rail.

The damage isn’t bad, no one got hurt and there weren’t any real collisions. The other guy didn’t touch my car, thankfully, but he didn’t stop either, and therefore must be an ass in every other aspect of his life as far as I am concerned. There are scratches and small dents around both the wheel wells on the right side of my car and a fat scratch on the passenger door. Total cost to repair is estimated at around 2,600 dollars.

Fucking great. I haven’t had my car for two months, and this happens. I took the day off work and basically spent the time crying, talking to auto body shops, crying, talking to the insurance company, crying, and trying to keep myself from having a complete breakdown due to stress.

It was so scary. I could have died, or been really badly hurt. I didn’t know how to deal with it. I’m okay now, but that was probably one of the most awful days of my life.

But the insurance people were really, really, really nice. I mean, unbelievably nice, and the guy I got my estimate from at the auto body shop I’m going to use was also uncommonly nice and very helpful. They were all very sympathetic and polite and it was very nice to at least have that while being so shaken up.

So it’s all over and done with, everything is okay. I’m okay, the guy is okay though I still really want to kick him in the nuts. I’m short for my deductible so I won’t be able to get the damage fixed right away, but everything with insurance is taken care of, which is good.

Moving on.

Andy and I had made plans, prior to my brush with fate, to see a movie at the new theater in the University Town Center in La Jolla. It’s a brand new theater that serves drinks and has over 21 exclusive options and things like that. Very fancy for a theater. If you sign up for a membership, tickets are $10.75 per adult, which is not bad really, considering.

But what’s really awesome is they have this program called Arclight Presents where they play older movies on certain days.

They played Aliens, the second Alien movie last night. I really like the Alien movies and Andy I know is really into the old late eighties early nineties monster films, and luckily Andy got off work early enough that we could catch the showing.

Aliens on the big screen! Oh my god it was fantastic! I felt like we had gone back in time! It was amazing! The only thing better would have been to see A New Hope, but Andy and I talked about that afterward and Arclight probably doesn’t have the money to make that possible.

Yeah, it was the best theater experience I’ve ever had. Because, you know, who is going to go see an Alien movie in the theater except people who know the story and really like the movies? There were surprisingly more people there than I thought there would be, but the theater was dead quiet the WHOLE time! ALL of them were people who went to enjoy the movie instead of thinking of it as a social outing with friends. And before the movie started, an employee came out in front of the screen to welcome everyone and thank us for being there. Fwwuah? That’s cool!

God it was beautiful. And I learned after the movie that Andy had never seen the second Alien movie before! Or the third one or Resurrection! He thought we were seeing the first one and was pleasantly surprised. The only one he’s ever seen from beginning to end was the first one when he was really little, which I couldn’t believe because he likes these kinds of movies. He’s seen Alien Vs. Predator, but I don’t know if that should really count. I mean… it IS an Alien movie, but…I dunno, it doesn’t have the same sort of feel to me.

So yeah! That was fun! We had a really good time, went to get burgers afterward that were also amazing, and I was also craving a burger so it was even better. It was a really good night.

Andy is really stressed about work now though. He finally confronted his manager about the problems he’s experiencing with some of the people he works with, but apparently that’s only made the situation worse for him and now it’s so bad that he’s actually thinking about quitting. I didn’t want to talk to him about it too much last night because I didn’t want him to dwell on it, but I haven’t asked him yet how things are going with Viejas, which is a casino/entertainment venue that holds a lot of concerts and performances in East County. He applied for a job with them a few weeks ago and there was an interview scheduled, but I don’t know how it went. It would be a 45 minute drive for him one way, and the work load would probably be more hectic, but I think at this point a hectic work load as opposed to having constant problems with the people you work with is a better thing.

He seems to be okay for now though. So that’s good.

That guy is a douche for not stopping. Glad you’re getting the car situation handled, but it still sucks. I’ve heard of that theatre! Freaking awesome!
