Sucked it up and spent the money *e*
I did, I did! I bought a Fiat 500!
Finally. I’ve been tossing around the idea of buying a new car for some time now because my old car was beginning to really fall apart. The dashboard lights didn’t work, the tail lights had a short, and it was just overall getting really rickety and I was done dealing with it.
So here’s my new car!
It’s seriously the best little car ever. Aside from a strange noise that comes from the dash that I didn’t notice when I test drove it, it’s perfect! I love it so much! It’s small and compact and a manual, but you don’t feel cramped when sitting in it. At least, not in the front seats, I haven’t tried the back seats yet. It’s got loads more technology than my old car could ever have dreamed of and I am going to have to learn how to use everything.
I do feel sort of forlorn about giving up my old car. I had it for seven years and it was sort of like trading an old friend for a younger, newer one.
But it’s a hatchback! I’ve always wanted a hatchback, and I don’t care what Jeremy Clarkson says about it, it’s a hatchback!
I need to talk to my aunt to get the information for her mechanic from her. I’d like him to do a once over just to make sure everything is in working order. I have a bumper to bumper warranty that I might as well try to take advantage of if I can, so if her mechanic finds anything wrong, I can take it to the dealer to get it fixed.
I did originally swear up and down I would never buy a new car again, but since you can’t hardly find used Fiats anywhere, I figured they were cheap enough anyway to warrant buying a new one. $17,000.00 out the door with 11 miles on it. Not too bad at all. Even the base models come with all kinds of neat stuff.
So yeah, there it is! I love it!
I’m not going to be seeing Andy at all this week because they are striking the Christmas decorations at SeaWorld and he’s working god awful hours. He doesn’t get off work until midnight all week. But he does have Saturday and Sunday off, so that’s good. It will be really great to have the whole weekend with him. I’ll probably end up teaching him how to drive the Fiat because he wants to buy a manual for his next car as well.
I’m so going to drive everywhere now. He’ll just have to deal with it.
*e*
And not that it really means anything to anyone but me, but I also FINALLY got my aunt to admit that I should be paying rent! YAY!
I don’t feel like a layabout any more!
Is it weird that I feel like a worse person when I have lots of money to save than when I’m spending it for a new car and to not feel useless where I’m living?
No, I guess not. It’s good that I’m able to support myself. I like that a lot. I’ll have to start budgeting again, but I’d rather do that than waste my money on things I don’t really need. I’m going to start properly saving money too, a little bit at a time so I can go on a proper vacation at the end of this year. Andy really wants to go to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in October, which I would be SO down for! I love Ashland, Oregon so much, it’s so beautiful.
Wow, you got a great deal. Now I want one.

Cool, hope its a good car. I don’t think I’d ever buy used again.
