Upon going through my things last night and getting ready to pack everything up, I realized, not for the last time, that I have way, way too much crap and I’m now overcome with the impulse to simply throw everything away. I have already decided that I am going to replace my current bookshelf with a bigger bookshelf, and my computer desk with a smaller computer desk, both from Ikea. I might get another small rack for my dvds and cd’s as well.

I can’t believe how much stuff I have that I don’t need! It’s stupid! And I just cleaned out five bags worth of good will stuff like three weeks ago! Most of what I want to keep are books and movies, if that says anything about priorities.

I want to gut everything, I’ve decided. Get my possessions down to a bare minimum, get everything organized, and go from there. It means getting rid of some things that will be painful to let go of, like a couple of cat figurines that I’ve had since high school. But I think this is what needs to happen. I want a completely different feel to my room that is cohesive and less like it’s been since I was a teenager. It’s long past due.

That being said, my room is probably going to end up a poster space for Urband Outfitters, I kid you not. I love their stuff, even if it is a little expensive.

However, before all this happens, I need to purchase two other things. Well..no, I don’t need to, but I’m going to because I’ve been wanting them forever and ever and ever.

An iPhone and a MacBook Pro. The iPhone is going to be around 250.00 (I’ll get it with my next paycheck) and the MacBook about 1200-1300 dollars depending on the options I choose.

So that’s exciting!

Lisa let me know that they talked with a possible replacement roommate that responded to one of their CraigsList adds. Her name is Emily and everyone seems to like her a lot, going off first impressions. She’s coming by sometime next week to look at the room, so I’ll have it cleaned up by then, with most of my things packed except the essentials.

I’m both excited to meet her and not excited. A new girl in the house can mean a lot of things, so I try not to think about it. Lisa said Emily reminded her a lot of me, so I guess that’s good. She seemed king of nerdy and was open minded (having responded to our ad with something along the lines of ‘I blieve in dinosaurs!’…it was a joke at the end of the ad, we put ‘must believe in dinosaurs.’) We were joking that we’re either going to get some really cool people asking about the room, or some really crazy people. So far it seems to be doing well.
