The Tree

Dick took the kids to town the other night and they brought home a tree. It was in the stand when I got home from work. Did you know you can use ice cubes to water a tree to avoid spills? When I saw ice cubes in the tree stand I thought that maybe Dick and The Tree had a drink together ~ bonding. He told me that he was watering the tree with ice cubes. That is better than another way that he could “water” the tree.

I set the decorations out so that the kids could decorated the tree only to realize that we used the clear lights that I had planned on putting on the tree. I did not think that multi-colored lights would go with the Blue theme that I chose. I told them that they were going to town and to wait until we get lights to decorate. Nope they did not wait ~ the tree was decorated and the lights were on the counter top still in the boxes. Oh I laughed! They did not have one bulb on the back side of the tree ~ the side that faces the window.

Today I trimmed the bottom branches and removed the garland and bulbs from the tree. Put the lights on, replaced the garland, and place blue tinsel all over the tree. I put a few of the bulbs back on but I decided that the kids can do that. I will supervise the bulb placement so that the whole tree gets covered!

I look at this homely little tree and think “uff you are ugly!” Then I think twice about it! This is nature! How can it be ugly? The tree is beautiful even with uneven growth! It looks like branches missing but branches never even grew! It leans! Certainly not picture perfect but it is beautiful still!
