The Party

Since I went to sleep so early I was up at 4 AM! Monday was an ugly day for me because I could not go back to sleep. Not even for a mid-morning nap. By mid-afternoon I was really ready for a nap but unable to get one since I was working.

Tuesday and Wednesday were uneventful. Monday was uneventful but I was very tired.

Thursday ~ my baby turned nine!

I bought a canister of helium to fill balloons. I just don’t have it in me to blow up all those balloons. Although he was happy with his helium balloons it is a waste because even helium grade rubber balloons do not hold helium. The balloons were on the floor by morning.

I was off and running like a lunatic to get to his basketball game. I had so much to do and not enough time to do it in. That is what I get for dawdling.

At the game I invited GW and her family over for cake. I had to feed the kids after the game and before cake! How the hell was I supposed to get the kids fed before GW and her family showed up. Just cook enough to feed everybody. Dick was on his way to the store because I forgot batteries so I called him and asked him to get another package of hot dogs.

The timing was perfect! I had the fries in the oven to dogs in the pizza oven. Those were done right after GW arrived with her children ~ hubby had to bathe dog. Dick got home in perfect time to start another batch of dogs. I put more fries in the oven. (I always worry about not having enough food to feed everyone.) Everyone had plenty to eat with very little leftover.

I went to three grocery stores to get a cake. A white cake with whipped icing! Not one of those stores had what I was looking for. I am not sure what is more important the white cake or the whipped icing but I ended up with a chocolate cake with whipped icing. (I knew that I would not be eating cake!)

Five kids, five icing balloons on the cake! They each picked a balloon and I cut the cake just that way. By the time that I got done cutting the balloons out of the cake the cake looked like a hand with the license to fly the “bird.”

Chocolate cake and root beer floats plus ice cream on the plate with the cake. It amazes me that those kids did not end up with a bellyache. (I think that most of the cake ended up in the trash can.)

I will know not to buy chocolate cake again. Marble cake is okay but the kids (and I) like white cake the best!

that party sounds like so much fun. I wish I was there. I know it’s late, but wish my little buddy a happy birthday for me, okay?
