The Gift

Tyler wanted a remote controlled car for his birthday. When my kids want something I always get this crazy notion that they need the biggest that I can find. He never swayed on the decision and that is all that he asked for ~ many, many times in the month before his birthday.

At Wal*Mart they have big remote controlled vehicles of all sorts. They have Hummers, motorcycles, boats, submarines, and God only knows what else. I checked out the aisle very carefully and had a hard time choosing just the right one. I could spend $100 on this one ~ it is big and the battery and charger is included. I could spend $50 on this one and pay another $50 on the battery and charger. I can get this one for $40 but it looks cheap. I see this one for $18, $15, $8. I felt like a kid in a candy store and I just could not make up my mind! I called Dick to get an expert male opinion. He was of no help!

That Hummer would be nice (what boy would not like a hummer for his birthday?) but it is so big that navigating around the house might be difficult.

If I got the submarine no one would be able to use the bathroom because Tyler would be in the tub 24/7. With girls that are 12 and almost 14 I know how important it is to have an open bathroom. God forbid that they may not be able to primp every hour on the hour. Tyler could run the sub in the master bath but that would be a huge mess in my bathroom. Not to mention the extra water usage to have to fill the garden tub! I decided against the submarine.

I want everything that he needs included! So skip the ones that I would have to buy the battery pack and charger for. Skip this one, skip that one. This one would be neat! I had a heck of a time choosing!

I finally found the perfect one! I got him a Phat Boyz remote controlled car! Look how little it is! Isn’t it cute? Yep, just a little tiny car that the charger doubles as a carrier. The remote hooks to the charger/carrier. It runs on 3-AAA and one 9V batteries. And it has a belt clip! Perfect! The perfect remote controlled car for $14.88 plus tax. I bought it with the thought that if he was not happy with it I could exchange it for a different one.

He was totally thrilled! He made buying one of his Christmas gifts just a little bit easier. I am getting him the bigger Phat Boyz remote controlled car for Christmas. It is not huge like the Hummer or motorcycle but it is bigger than the Phat Boyz that he has now.

I think that I should get it now because there is only one left at Wal*Mart.
