Snow Day

If you’d like to read about he Dru Sjodin case this is the link to the articles in the local newspaper

What a horseshit day already and it is only 11 AM. I should be in town right now doing the banking but I can not even get out of my driveway. Not to mention that my kids just got on the bus about 30 minutes ago. School was running two hours late due to the weather. Then the bus got stuck in GW’s driveway so they sent another bus out. Bus stuck in a driveway is a pretty good indication that the busses should not be running at all. They have cancelled school for weather better than this. I think that the reason that they did not call it off is because they would have to give up President’s Day. Like that is a holiday that we really whoop it up and celebrate.

I tried to get a hold of the two guys that usually will do the banking. Cocky is not answering his phone ~ he is probably in class. Curly did answer his phone but he was on his way to class. Giant I got no answer either ~ I am quite sure that he could do the banking. He has the smarts to do it even though he has never done it before. It was a no go on all three so I had to call my supervisor again! He did not make it home last night and I figured that he was out of town. I was right. But at least I touched base with him and let him know what was going on.

Okay, I had to take a break to get my ducks in a row. Everyone involved is on the up and up on the situation. I even asked Cocky to copy the schedules so that COO can have them. Curly even offered to work bingo if I could not make it to work. Gotta just love that kid! He does what he can when he can to help out.

I worked the 3 o’clock shift yesterday. Just as I started dealing cards Mr. High Energy called me ~ which was about two and a half hours before his scheduled shift. He had been to the doctor and at the advice of his doctor he quit because he had been having asthma attacks. He never mentioned asthma attacks before then and he had not worked for almost two weeks. I guess that is a good enough excuse as any to just up and quit. Just one less thorn is my side! I am not heartbroken over it. When he was done telling me what I needed to know I told him that I was dealing and had to go. “Do you want me to call you back to chat?” “No, I have to go” and I hung up.

I glad to find out that I acquired a better judge of character in the past four years. I used to hire people like this all the time. Actually I thought that Mr. High Energy would be a good worker ~ for the first two weeks. After that I had a suspicion that he would do what he just did. Quit with no notice. I have one other “kid” like that. When he is done he will not give a notice. I just know it. Oh well, such is life.

While at work Alexa called me and told me that her teacher thinks that she has pink eye. I told her that I would check it when I got home from work or in the morning. She was up and moving around when I got home so I looked at it. It was red so I also thought that she had pink eye and told her that I would make an appointment for her to see the doctor. This morning her eye was not red at all like it was when I looked at it. So I attributed the redness to the fact that she sleeping. But she does have a cold in her eye. She has been prone to a cold in her eye and eye infection since she was just a tiny baby. I think that she was about six months old when she got her first eye infection. To get the drops in her eyes I would have to straddle her to hold her arms down so that I had the use of both of my hands. One hand to hold her eye open and the other hand to administer the eye drops. Nadine would get so mad at me and say “don’t sit on the baby!” And she would try to push me off. She would do this with every dose. Every dose I would explain to her that I was not sitting on the baby and that I was just holding her arms so I could make her better. I laugh at that memory. I will have to tell them about it.

Since I am snow bound for now I am going to cuddle up in my electric blanket that I got for my birthday and read the book that I got for Christmas. (I finally finished the one that I was reading Not Fit to Practice by Perry or Peri somebody ~ I don’t even know what I did with that book now. I am sure that I will find it in some weird place.

Off to my warm blanket ~ and I am posting this later this afternoon after I read it because I know that I rambled and I may need to change or add something.

The kids sure love snow days but they hate the make-up days! 🙂 – – – –
