More Work Stupid Drama

Oh here is another good work story.

(Just about had a heart attack here…I am sitting up everyone is sleeping and I hear voices. They are not the normal voices that I hear in my head. One of the kids is talking in their sleep. That always alarms me even though I know that it happens. It was either Tyler or Alexa.)

Back to the work story…

Friday late afternoon it was slow and the bartender was getting ready for an event in the basement. He needed ice but most of the ice that was in the ice machine was one big chunk of ice cubes all froze together. Since I was doing nothing anyway I was separating the cubes by hitting the frozen chunk with the ice scoop. I had one pull-tab player at the time. He would go to the counter I would release the ice scoop and sell him pull-tabs.

All of the sudden I had the daytime bartender (P) all in my face. “Can you tell me why when D came over here to buy pull-tab you wouldn’t sell him any even after he called your name but when J came over here you sold him pull-tabs right away?”

I told her “I did not know that D was over here and I did not hear him say my name. I was in front of the ice machine (which is right there from the counter) I did not see nor did I hear him.” I explained to her that it was not intentional.

There was nothing that I could say to her at that point that was going to make her happy because she came back at me with “the ice machine is not your responsibility.” All the while I am thinking what responsibility do you have to tell me how to do my job? Yet I did not say that. Why make someone angrier than they already are. I have to work with this woman. I am not going to piss her off she is cranky enough as it is! So I said to her “I will go talk to D.” I am sure that she was none to pleased because she is the type of person that gets off on rattling someone’s cage and she was not rattling my cage at all. I have dealt with people like her before. If they think that they can get one over on you they will take two or three! F that noise!

So I walked down to the end of the bar to talk to D. I explained to him that I did not even see him at the counter and I did not hear him say my name. I told him that I would never intentionally not sell him pull-tabs. Then I said to him “why would I do that to you, look at the money you spend here.” He was fine with my explanation.

While I was still discussing the issue with D, P comes down to the end of the bar and says to me “and he better not be telling L that D jumped his jar. D was playing long before he was.” Talking about another customer. Like I have control over what a customer tells the bar manager. At that point I walked away and D came over to buy pull-tabs.

Now the saga continues…

The customer that P was talking about telling or not telling L that D jumped his jar…D walked by him and called him Dickhead.

Let’s pull the story together…P is the daytime bartender. D is her boyfriend. He will just suddenly show up in the middle of the afternoon ~ more often than not when someone is deep into a jar. This happened to different people on several occasions. They finally figured that P was calling him in to play the jars. So one (maybe more than one) customer(s) called the bar manager to let her know that this was happening.

Now with the name calling D will not be allowed to come into the bar. I have a feeling that there will be a new daytime bartender too.

Oh, Open Diary, what a relief it is! Too much drama!
