Last Week ~ Thru Thursday
It was a week ago that I sat in this very spot saying “I should be packing.” I did get packed and I am still packed. Yeah you heard that right I have not unpacked my bag yet. I am not sure what the delay is but I have not found a reason to hurry either. I will eventually get the bag unpacked.
We finally got moving around 1:30 in the afternoon. I knew that I should have wakened the kids! After making pit stops and not being in a hurry we arrived seven and a half hours later. So much for going to see Dad!
Dad had a knee replacement. Now both of his knees are done!
When we finally got to my sisters’ house my niece ~ Candice ~ Cory’s daughter ~ was standing out in the yard. I think that she came out to greet us. Oh boy did that girl have on the make-up. Being the mean person that I am I asked her “are you the newest local hooker?“ Then I told her that she had on too much make-up. In all actuality she did not have as much eye-liner on as I thought she did ~ it was just running down her face making it look like she had a ton of eye-liner on. I gave her a tip ~ less is more. Yes I know ~ I am mean! Sabrina had on just as much make-up running down her face.
Connie and I went to Mom’s. Talk about dancing around the big purple elephant that was standing in the room. Conversation was slow but eventually flowed. My mother is moving, leaving Dad behind. That saddens me. How can anyone leave a man that they have spent the last 30+ years with ~ in the nursing home to boot? Oh, it must be love! Ha!
Nadine stayed at Mom’s with the girls. Alexa, Tyler, and I stayed at Connie and Brian’s house.
I got up early (for me) Wednesday morning and took off for Minot. I got there none too early but I was not late. The meetings went fast! We had a speaker that just about bored me to death. It was about the Purple Cow something or other. Either you get noticed or you blend in with all the rest. He talked about how to make our charity stand out from the rest. Well we are so controlled by the state that it is hard to be a purple cow! Blah ~ it was boring and he had a boring voice. He should read books on tape for children’s bedtime stories. Okay I should say that he had a relaxing voice because I wanted to sleep listening to him speak. It is not nice to use the word boring! Tuesday night we did site visits. We have a site in a strip club. I was so out of my comfort zone! They call it dancing. How can lying on the “runway” stomping your feet be called dancing? I don’t get it! I guess it is a way to make a living!
All we did Thursday was go through the Internal Control manual and made changes that needed to be changed. No discussion which I thought was weird. We were told that we had to go to the bingo parlor for a site visit. I did stop in and felt very foolish. I talked to one little old guy that was selling bingo cards. I told him why I was there. I would have like to play but I am not allowed to play at our sites ~ beside the fact that they were already mid-session.
I headed back to Crosby Thursday afternoon after a stop at Wal*Mart. I wasn’t sure what Mom or Connie had for snacky-snacks and breakfast food.
I was supposed to meet up with a couple of friends Thursday night but I didn’t go out. I just hung out at Mom’s. To tell the truth I don’t know what I did! I just can not recall. It must not have been much fun. Oh ~ I went to Connie and Brian’s. That is what I did, not hang out at Mom’s. I did not stay long at Connie and Brian’s either. The 20-something son hit me on the arm with a kid’s play knife. When I told him that hurt he hit me again with it. I had a big red mark and welts. I was pissed!
I must get moving! Friday and beyond to come….stay tuned.
I hope that you all have a great day!
