Hssssss….The sound of a tire losing air!
We have been having pretty decent weather for the past couple of days. Even with the wind we are having temperatures 67° warmer than we had a couple of weeks ago we had -32°. When I think of the difference 35° is not so bad.
The one thing that does make it bad is that it is above freezing and now all the snow that blew from the North is now blowing from the South. We are not getting any new snow, just old snow blowing around and sticking to the warm highway. That makes for a mess ~ slushy, slippery roads. The snow was even sticking to the gravel road.
Oh, speaking of the gravel road ~ Tuesday night on my way to work I notice bits and pieces of a tire. It looked like someones tire blew. I know this sounds bad but with Dick being in the tire business I was wondering if they called him for a tire. It is amazing the things that can go through ones mind when they travel alone. All of the sudden I here this thump…thump…thump. I was thinking damn I must have picked up a piece of that tire that was in the road. So I stopped, got out of my car to look. I did not pick up a piece of the tire but I did pick up a big piece of steel. When I get my camera back from GW I will have to take a picture of it ~ I kept the piece of steel. Its my consolation prize!
Right away I called into work. It seems like something always happens on the day that I will actually make it to work on time. Flat tire, damn trains, getting stuck in a drift. See what happens when I try! So anyway, I called work then I called the shop. Dick was out of the shop ~ I forget that he has been going on the road trying to get new accounts. But I did talk to the owner (Dicks brother.) He asked me if I had a spare tire. I dont know let me check. Before I got out to check I said yes, I have a spare because my tire smells like a trunk. Yep, we both got a good laugh at that one. I meant to say that my trunk smells like a tire. He said to me well just change the tire. Yeah right ~ like I know how to change a tire. Well, I do know how but I dont think that I could change a tire. He was just teasing me and he sent one of the guys out to change my tire for me.
It is a good thing that I grabbed my book before I left home. I hate just sitting there when I have to wait for the train. So I did not get bored waiting.
I have four new hires! I did the interviewing and I did the hiring! I hope they all turn out to be good employees. Wish me luck! They can not be any worse than what my supervisor hired. He hired seven new emploees within the two hiring sessions ~ one never did show up. Of the other six three are still around and that will become two if Mr. Lippy does not straighten up. (I can not remember the name that I gave him in the beginning but that is what he is now.)
I lost track of the other stuff that I wanted to write about. See what happens when I let my mind wander.
