Hawaii ~ April 8 and 9, 2010
It amazes me how much I want to write after I have written an entry. I must make it a point to write on a daily basis again even if it is just sweet nothings.
I went on a super amazing vacation, mind you this is my first real vacation ~ EVER!! Truly, my first vacation. I went to Hawaii.
April 8 ~ I drove to Plymouth, Minnesota after work. I met Sunshine Guy at his cousin (H’s) house. I wish that I could claim that she is my cousin too because she is just too sweet ~ other side of the family…oh no wonder she is too sweet she takes after Sunshine Mother!! Upon arrival I was entertained by SG and the oldest girl. She had choreographed a dance, taught it to SG, and they performed it for me when I got there. Ya know, I didn’t know…SG can dance. I think he should get to go on Dancing with the Stars!! Then it was time for the girls to go to bed. H, SG, and I sat up and talked for a while. I thought that I would have trouble sleeping but apparently I didn’t and I snored according to SG. H made us share a room and almost a bed but we separated the bed from the trundle. That would be just wrong to sleep in the same bed…we are related.
April 9 ~ morning comes and we must get ready to catch our flight. RB told me not to bring and toiletries because I can use hers and they are not allowed (other than 3 oz) on the plane. I have nothing to get ready with!! Tried to fix my hair, applied deodorant and a lot of it, and away we went. H drove us to the airport. Soon enough we were in flight. I can not for the life of me remember what we did for entertainment during the flight to Los Angeles.
We had a bit of a lay-over in LA so we had some lunch from California Pizza Kitchen which was very yummy! Our seat-mate joined us for lunch. She was traveling to Hawaii on a mission. I was thinking military but it was a mission from God – which we found out when she started preaching to us during lunch. I have nothing against God and religion but I don’t need anyone preaching to me and I really don’t care what your views are. I talk religion with only people I know not some stranger that I meet on an airplane. We kind of ditched her after that and walked around the airport checking out the shops. We stopped at the Home Turf Sports Bar and had one very expensive drink. SG had a beer which was reasonable and you can guess that a beer is going to be more expensive in the airport but almost $14 for a Pina’ Colada…OMG!! Of course the prices were not on the menu so I should have known better. No it certainly did not taste like a $14 drink but it was and that is the way it is. Lesson learned…don’t drink at the airport even for the novelty of it, unless you have an endless supply of cash.
Flight is boarding! Kona here we come! Each seat was equipped with a monitor. We had the choice to watch televisions shows, movies, or play games. We were even able to check the status for the flight. Fun! Oh and guess what, our seat-mate, another gal on a mission. She was fine though. No preaching! I watched Two and a Half Men…one of my favorite shows, for a while. Then chose the movie that SG was watching. It’s Complicated ~ SG was kind enough to stop his movie and wait for me to get to the same place “so we could laugh together.” That was totally sweet of him to do that. When that movie was over we put on Where the Wild Things Are. I had listened to the story before so I was not totally interested in it. Just as it was ending they shut it off to prepare for landing in Kona!!
Can ya believe it ~ we are in Hawaii and we get to see Roller Beth!?!
She met us at the Gate with a Lei. Mine was the beautiful purple Plumerias.
We stopped at Wal-Mart on the way to her house then we just chilled for the evening.
Can’t wait to hear about the rest of your vacation!
