Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving

Tyler got to spend most of the time at Sister C’s because that is where all the boys were. Brother L’s girls spent a lot of time at Mom and Dad’s because that is where all the girls were. Plus I wanted to give his wife a break. She is a stay at home mom so she is with them 24-7 and most of the time alone with them because my brother works out of town most of the week. She was giving to the two-year-old the option of staying with her or coming with me. The baby could not decide ~ it is a woman’s prerogative to change her mind! She did finally come with me.

My parents get clothes from every one in town that has girls older than my nieces that they are raising. Some of it fits them and some of it does not. My girls are smaller than they are so my mother thinks that she needs to pass it on to my girls.

She had huge boxes and lawn and leaf bags galore in the basement that needed to be gone through.

Those four girls had a hay-day. They were knee deep in clothes and there was not a spot in the living room floor that could be seen for all the clothes.

I kept telling my mother “let’s not be psychotic about this.” When she said that she had clothes for my girls I was thinking three or four pairs of jeans and a few shirts. I was not thinking three lawn and leaf bags jam packed full! “I am driving a car not a semi. I don’t have room for all of this ~ unless I leave some kids here.”

It took hours for them to get through all the boxes and bags. I finally told them that if we were going to Light Up Night that they had to hurry and get everything picked up.

If I knew then what I found out later I would have skipped the whole Light Up Night festivities. It was windy and so cold! I would have rather stayed in and not fight the crowd. I can not believe the turn out that they have for that. This year they called it Christmas Stroll but I can not imagine anyone actually doing much Christmas shopping there. Smalltown, USA and very expensive. (I know, I know ~ shop at home! Everyone goes shopping out of town so the sales are down so they have to get what they get for what they sell.)

Ya know what I had to do? I called Dick who did not come with me because he had to work Friday. I called him Saturday morning and told him of my dilemma. Kill two birds with one stone ~ bring the kitchen that I picked up for C and you can haul home all these clothes. So what did he do? He got ready and drove across the state Saturday afternoon arriving just in time for supper.

My sister was happy and I stopped worrying about how I was going to get that kitchen across the state for Christmas.

We even got to go out. There was not much going on. On the way back to Mom and Dad’s we went around the block and watched the deer that hang out by the grain elevator. There were five deer on the west end of town. There was one near Mom and Dads ~ we watched it until it walked across the road so we followed. It was in the empty lot across the alley we watched it until it went back to the elevator.

Small town entertainment ~ deer watching!

Haha it’s funny you mention deer! I had a close call with a couple of them.

Deer watching – Almost as much fun as watching the raccoons raid the garbage can! 🙂 – – – –

Now that is proof that Dick loves you! I don’t even think I would have done THAT for my ex wife! That is one long haul! It sounds like you had a nice time though! I’m glad. You deserve it!
