Diminished The Monday Funk!

I hope what I am feeling is just a Monday Funk. Maybe it is guilt ~ from not doing a damn thing over the weekend. I had Saturday and Sunday off but did not lift a finger to do any housekeeping. Well that is not true I did start the dishwasher and put away the clean dishes. I did all the laundry Friday because I did not want to have to do any laundry on my weekend off. I look around with the great big sun shining through my living room window and see the mess on the window that has been there for quite some time. I see the dust that has accumulated ~ it is getting pretty thick. I keep saying we have so much dust because we live in the country. But this is getting to be an old excuse and it is getting ridiculous! One household should not be allowed to have this much dust. One person should not be so damn lazy to have this much dust! I should not call this person lazy ~ I just have better things to do than to wash windows and dust.

I must be feeling a little less funky because in the middle of that paragraph I got off my butt, walked into the kitchen, collected cleaning supplies, and washed my living room window. Then I sprayed Oops! on a paint slop (how long has it been since I painted?) Then I dusted the living room came back to the Oops and wiped up the paint slop! I feel better I accomplished something today!

Sunday I sat around all day! The mother of the friend that stayed with Nadine came over. I love when D visits ~ we actually have a lot in common. We drank coffee and chatted for a few hours then it got to be suppertime so I invited them to stay. I did burgers on the grill, crispy crowns, and green beans. I forgot to put out he cucumber salad ~ now I think I better throw it out ~ two days in the fridge is long enough.

My children have acquired a trampoline! The people who live behind asked them if they wanted it. Alexa came running in the house “Mom, please, we promise not to do flips, can we have a trampoline!” She was so excited that she was breathless. Damn it! I am just too much of a sucker! How could I say no when I know how much fun they will have? How can I say no to anything (especially to a free trampoline) that I did not have as a child? I didn’t have much before the fire and had even less after the fire.

I can remember going to rummage sales and buying a toy or stuffed animal here and there. I had a big bear and an elf that were my favorites. But when we moved to the lake they were left behind. Maybe that is why my parents sent my sister and I to stay with my aunt and uncle until everything was moved ~ just so they could throw out our most prized possessions.

No wonder my kids are such brats ~ they are spoiled rotten!

Speaking of being brats! When I went to Sam’s Club I bought a box of a dozen Mini-Lifesavers ~ yummy! If you don’t know what that is ~ it is a big plastic Lifesaver that contains tiny Lifesavers that taste like Pez candies. I gave each of the kids a package, set one on Dick’s bedside stand, and I took one. Twelve minus five equals seven. There are five left in the box that is sitting on my vanity.

Alexa was gone so I knew that she was not the culprit this time. I asked Nadine and knew that she was telling me the truth when she said that she did not take them. When I asked Tyler I could tell that he wanted to deny it but his partner in crime was standing right there so I think he was afraid of getting double busted. He did not admit to it but I knew by the look on his face that he was the guilty party. I asked him what he did with two of them. He gave one to J. “It was nice of you to share your stolen loot with your friend. Now you made him an accomplice to the crime. You did commit a crime because when you take things that do not belong to you it is called STEALING!” J just stood there with the look of guilt written all over his face too.

I did not come down on him too hard because he didn’t actually lie when I asked him about the missing candy. I have always told the kids that it is the lying that will get them into more trouble than the actual incident that they are lying about! Does that make any sense? Well, I know what I am trying to say and so do the kids. Hey, maybe I am finally getting something through Tyler’s thick skull.

Well for now ~ I am off and running like a lunatic. It is Monday ~ a banking day for me. It is past time for me to leave and I am still in my jammies. Yikes ~ hurry up and go!

It makes perfect sense to me. Basically I told my three sons (Sounds like the old tv series doesn’t it?) “If I ask you a question I want a straight answer. If giving a truthful answer gets you in trouble, so be it. If you lie to me and I find out later that your answer was a lie, then you will know what trouble really is!” It worked. 😀 – – – –

I’m with Lehper. Well, aside from being an old tv show. I understood perfectly what you were saying. Also, hey, who doesn’t deserve a weekend off once in a while. There is only so much time in a person’s life, and we need to worry about the fun stuff sometimes too! Who will care in 20 years if your living room had dust? Not me! I will still love you, even then!
