Attempted Murder in my Neighborhood
E****, N.D. – A rural E*** man was shot Sunday morning after an alleged argument, officials said.
MJB, 34, was in critical condition at Altru Hospital on Sunday evening, according to an official at the hospital
He was transported there early Sunday after being found in his home at 1720 **** Street Northeast, about three miles east of E****, suffering from a gunshot wound.
At about 3:21 a.m. Sunday, county deputies went to MJB’s home after receiving a report of a shooting.
They found MJB in his home, injured with one gunshot wound. He was transported to Altru Hospital for treatment.
At about 5 a.m., police arrested 37-year-old LJG without incident at 1738 **** Street Northeast in relation to the shooting.
Officials with the sheriff’s office were not releasing further information about the incident Sunday night.
LJG’s home is about four houses north from MJB’s home, in a rural but developed area between Grand Forks and E****. There are about 20 homes there, on about 3 acres of land each. ***Actually there is only ONE house between unless you zizag across the road.***
Many of the neat lawns with growing shrubs display stark “no trespassing signs.” About five of these signs line the driveway to 1738 **** Street.
People in the quiet, rural neighborhood were shocked by the shooting, saying both men were friendly and easy to get along with as neighbors.
LJG faces an attempted murder charge, according to police. He was in custody at the Grand Forks county jail Sunday night.
Attempted murder is a Class A felony, punishable by up to 20 years in prison or a fine of $10,000, or both may be imposed.
At the time of LJG’s arrest, deputies seized a .22 caliber handgun in connection with the incident, according to a press release.
Emerado Fire and Rescue, Altru Ambulance, and the Grand Forks Sheriff’s office responded to the shooting.
The incident remains under investigation by the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Department.
