I thought your name was Laurel

I’m pretty much moved in to my new room and school starts next Monday. I have all of my textbooks and I only need to go buy a couple more notebooks before I’m all set on the school supply side. Back-to-school shopping is so much easier once you learn how you organize your shit. For instance, despite investing in various expensive portfolios and binders throughout the years, I’ve learned that inevitably all my papers end up stuffed between my notes so there’s really no point in buying anything else.

Here are some shots of my room. Bet you can’t guess what my two favorite colors are ;D

Just trying to see if this is where I want my bed.

Isabell was grateful that I finally put the mattress and sheets on the frame.

Hung up my tapestry like and good Boulderite.

My mountains of shit have started piling themselves in the room the morning after I moved in.

Turns out that her favorite part of this new set up is the rug.

Look at how fancily I made the bed!

I got my oil changed today because when my mom was here she noticed my front left tire was losing air. Based on mileage, the car was due for an oil change anyway, so I just brought it in. I was a little apprehensive about going by myself, but the guys at Jiffy Lube were really nice and didn’t try to sell me stuff I didn’t want.

My mom came to visit on Friday (instead of Wednesday because my grandpa ended up having a doctor’s appointment). We went shopping around 29th st. I got some stuff for the kitchen, a plastic laundry basket that I can use to transport clean clothes from the washer to the clothesline outside, a corkboard to hang jewelry on, two new tops and a cardigan. Actually, my mom and I bought matching tops because we’re almost on the same wavelength fashionwise. We dress differently, but we have the same tastes in colors and cuts for the most part. Coral is a color neither of us can say no to. =)

Apparently my parents are going to Minnesota for a week. They’re doing some stops along the way that Mom says they’ve always wanted to see (but never did presumably because of the two young, obnoxious girls they were traveling with) and then they’re spending the rest of their time at the lake. I miss Little Birch. I haven’t been there in…I dunno, three years? Too long. I was in Minnesota a year and a half ago for my grandma’s funeral, but that was during late winter/early spring.

Target is getting crazy. It wasn’t bad until yesterday when I was left to play the role of GSTL (the person in charge up front) for a half hour. Literally the minute after the actual supervisor left, the store blew up. I feel kinda bad ’cause I was rude to this woman, but she was bitching about getting a copy of the receipt. How is it that people feel so entitled?? All I did was run her stupid piece of paper through the copying machine. I have no clue why she couldn’t do that herself.

Also, I don’t believe I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m fangirling pretty hard within the Avengers fandom currently (and have been doing so since the movie came out). Yeah, I’ll admit I’m one of those that was never into the comics. That doesn’t invalidate me as a fan. I also got a Tumblr account so I could keep track of all the goings-on there. Mostly I bring this up because I have spent a shit ton of hours over the past few months reading and admiring fanworks; it constitutes a pretty large chunk of my life lately. One of the things that has always struck me as odd about fandoms is members’ abilities to read novel length fanfiction in several hours. Honestly, I probably read over 100K words last night, but do you think I can finish A Farewell to Arms? No. Anyway, I smell like a 12 year old boy now.
