– Notes To Self! – Pic Heavy –

1. Keep Camera Downstairs.

2. Keep 55 – 250 mm telephoto lens on camera.

Just before lunch today the Wife-Unit comes to the foot of the stairs up to my hole in the wall Home Office and says:

Lehper, there is a “Buck” in the front yard!

I grab the Canon and head down stairs.

The Wife-Unit is looking out the west window in the dining room which faces the front yard and the road. The deer is just about twenty feet from the house.

I snapped about a half dozen photos through the window.

I then went out onto the back porch/deck. The Buck trotted towards the road and stopped and I started taking more photos. The deer moved off towards the dog-pen stopped again and looked at me and then headed for the back yard.

Then it stopped and looked at me again.

I step off the back porch/deck and take a few steps to the south so I can see behind the house. To my surprise I see another Buck. I snap off a few more photos and the two Bucks wander off to the east and down into the small gully at the end of the yard.

The first Buck was missing all but about three inches of its right antler. It was broken off and all that remained was about a three inch stub.

I wonder if I could get a silencer for a deer rifle.

He probably lost it in a fight. They aren’t real big bucks, are they? Still impressive though, you don’t see those so often.

even so, they are pretty things.

As usual, great pix!

Your “yard” is beautiful. How wonderful to have so much land with no one crowding in.

have you and the mrs thought about having a new pup? i know it might sound like more work, but i think you two could use a wonderful loving dog. and the dog would be lovely charging out the door when the deer arrive lol

I remember when I got a close up look at a buck (in the back of a pickup), I thought, this is not a “big” buck, but to the hunter it is BIG. lol They are so much prettier in the way you’re seeing them although they can do much damage to gardens and other areas when the population gets over zealous. Silencer–lol-give it a “shot” and let us know how that works out for ya. 🙂 Thanks for posting.

Don’t be hurting those pretty deer. They need hugs not bullets.
