Logjam
Trees have a habit of growing.
They also have a habit of dying.
Then they either fall down or are cut down.
Depending on where this happens they might have to be cut up into manageable sized pieces and hauled away.
In a previous entry I wrote that one of my BILs had a tree that had to be taken down.
My sons took the tree down.
All three of my sons have fireplaces in their homes that they use.
So the wood will be used.
In that previous entry I included a couple of photos of the wood pile. Here are a couple more.
When spring arrived and the days warmed one of the sons rented a log splitter and started splitting wood.
But you can see in the next photo that the wood pile has grown.
Yeap they added a couple of trees to the wood pile.
And guess what?
The wood PILES continue to grow
I think the sons are contemplating installing wood burning heaters and cutting their heating costs.
My Wife-Unit enjoys watching HGTV. In one episode they showed how someone made coffee and end tables out of slices of tree trunks.
Anyone want a coffee table in the rough? It will require a wee bit of work. It is a bit over 42 inches in diameter.
I do believe that one of the sons is looking into buying instead of renting a log splitter.
I think thats a good idea.
we had a coffee table top and used an evenly cut bit of trunk for the base, when we were first married. polyurethaned it and loved it to death. i’ll take a top. i would love another one for out back. a foot high trunk too if you don’t mind. next time you’re down here at WPAFB, let me know. im serious steve.

There will certainly not be a lack of wood for the fireplace next winter.

Wow! That’s a lot of logs!

We rented a log splitter once when I was growing up so my dad could make old trees into fire wood. He ended up getting a finger caught in it and going to the ER. We buy fire wood now. 🙂 Stay safe.

Aww, I have a tree like that that might be due to be cut down. Holding off, hopefully not too long. Last tree that I cut down -I took a video of them doing the work, and still photographs, and saved some of the tree for paving stones –temporarily
