– Half Century –

One evening in mid-March the oldest son calls and asked if we had any plans for the evening. I told him no and he said Good well be there in a few minutes.

Shortly all three sons and their wives arrive.

Any plans for July 7th, the Wife-Unit and I are asked?

My thought – OH S***!

The kids are planning an anniversary party.

Our Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary!

I finally said something like Lets keep it simple like a cookout in the yard.

They ran with that idea.

Large tent in the yard with four large industrial fans and a misting unit so we survived what became a ninety degree plus day. In mid afternoon the temps began to drop so it wasnt too bad.

Fifty years ago the weather was just as hot. The church wasnt air conditioned and the church organ mal functioned just as we were leaving the church.

So the Wife-Unit and I have survived fifty years,

Congratulations. We’re nearing 54 and also short-circuited and downsized a surprise party by our kids on our fiftieth. I’m glad you were able to arrange some cooling . It’s such a miserably hot summer. – again, congratulations. do you think it will last? 🙂

Congratulations to you and wife!! What an accomplishment in this day!! My folks had a big shin dig for their 50th. They had eloped when they married so this was the “big” celebration 50 yrs later. Glad the kids respected your wishes, but bet it was still pretty good size. Take care enjoy and God Bless

I’ve taken some aerial photos in Kansas. I’ve even taken one of the center of the contiguous United States. Didn’t see the ocean. I will keep looking.
