-. A Word Reminded Me! –
I read something this evening that reminded me of an entry I posted almost ten years ago. So I think I will bore you with a re-posting of that entry.
The Passing of A Friend
12/18/2001.
Sorry About the Title if it was misleading (No I’m Not) but this was given to me at work today and I had to pass it on!
SPECIAL REPORT
PILLSBURY DOUGH BOY DIES
It is with the saddest heart that we pass on the following news. Please join us in remembering a great icon, the veteran Pillsbury spokesman.
The Pillsbury Dough Boy (known to friends as Brown-n-serve) died yesterday of a severe yeast infection and complaints from repeated pokes in the belly. He was only 71.
Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, Captain Crunch, Martha Stewart, the Keebler Elves and Skippy.
The grave site was piled high with flours. Long time friend, Aunt Jemima, delivered the eulogy, describing Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with many turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half baked schemes ( conned by those who buttered him up ) and died flat as a pancake.
Despite being flaky at times, he still, as a crusty old man, was considered a roll model for millions. Toward the end it was thought that he would rise again, but alas, he was no tart.
Doughboy is survived by his wife, Play Dough, two children, John Dough and Jane Dough, plus they have one in the oven. He is also survived by his second wife Sara Lee and by his elderly father, Pop Tart.
The funeral was held at 350 for about twenty minutes.
My apologies to all the cooking aficionados and Martha Stewart fans, but I could not resist. As far as my cooking abilities, I’ve been known to burn water.
Let it be said that I am an Equal Opportunity Zinger Tosser. Without discrimination I take Pot Shots at everyone.
I especially love “Experts.”
You know the definition of an “Expert?”
Think two words “EX” and “SPURT”.
An EX is a has been, and a SPURT is a drip under pressure!
Below, in his usual tongue in cheek style, is the note I received from Wil.
Bad. Extremely bad. Fortunately the bile in my throat is preventing me from laughing.
Sounds like something I would write. Wil [Wil’s World]
He will be missed.

I have heard that joke about the Pillsbury Dough Boy before. Did you know a few years ago they changed his image so he wouldn’t look quite so plump? They did so people didn’t equate him with getting fat. That is the truth! RYNs: You are too funny. About being pinched in the posterior being a occupational hazard of being a pedicab driver, I am thinking my entrepreneurial son will get a teeshirt with his phone number on it. For a good time call XXX-XXX-XXXX!

I was not familiar with Wil; I read maybe three of his entries, but I did see his notes here and there. It is obvious to me that he will be greatly missed by his friends here.

You are a nut! 🙂 A question for you. Was the Pillsbury Dough Boy the same as Poppin Fresh? Just wondering. I think that I still have a little Poppin Fresh toy around here left over from when my kids were little. 🙂
