Winter’s Coming…

I woke up to this statement from the National Weather Service:

"
…INCREASING THREAT FOR WINTERY PRECIPITATION ON SATURDAY…

A DEVELOPING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IN THE CENTRAL PLAINS ON SATURDAY IS
EXPECTED TO TRACK NORTHEAST INTO THE WESTERN GREAT LAKES SATURDAY
NIGHT. A SURGE OF RELATIVELY WARMER…MOIST AIR AHEAD OF THIS
SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO BRING A WINTRY MIX OF PRECIPITATION TO
SOUTHERN WISCONSIN BEGINNING SATURDAY MORNING.

THE PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN AS SNOW AND THEN BECOME
MIXED WITH AND CHANGE OVER TO SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN SATURDAY
AFTERNOON OR EVENING…THEN EVENTUALLY TURN TO ALL RAIN LATE SATURDAY
NIGHT.

SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS COULD APPROACH 3 TO 6 INCHES BEFORE
THE FREEZING RAIN AND RAIN ARRIVE…RESULTING IN DETERIORATING
TRAVEL CONDITIONS.

THIS IS A VERY COMPLEX WINTER STORM AND THE EVENTUAL TRACK OF THE
LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL DETERMINE THE EXACT TIMING AND TYPE OF
PRECIPITATION THAT MOVES THROUGH THE AREA. HOWEVER…CONFIDENCE
IS RATHER HIGH THAT A WINTRY MIX WILL HIT SOUTHERN WISCONSIN.

ALL INTERESTS ARE URGED TO KEEP UP WITH THE LATEST FORECASTS FOR
THIS WEEKEND BY LISTENING TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO ALL HAZARDS…"

Translated – we’re in for one heck of a wintery mess Saturday into Sunday.
