Stupid April snowstorm :(

So with the Angels-Indians series being moved to Miller Park this week, my dad had thought about going to one of the games (probably tomorrow night).  Makes sense, since tickets are just $10 and parking is just $8 and we live less than 90 minutes from the ballpark.  And the seats they’re opening up are all on the lower level.  They’re not planning on opening up the upper level of seats unless they get enough demand. *Sidenote: Miller Park is a nice place to see a game if you’ve never been* (We’re not fans of either team, but still…)

However, we’re now about to get an April snowstorm that’s putting the kibosh on that idea.  Here’s how it went.  This time last week, temps were going to be below normal all week, but warm enough the whole time for rain.  Then, on Sunday the forecast changed to it being cold enough overnight Tuesday and Wednesday to get a slushy mess with no real accumulation.  That was pretty much the forecast last night too when I went to bed about 10.  I got up this morning at 6 and was downstairs checking email and eating breakfast by 6:30.  When I checked my email, I discovered we were under a winter storm watch from late tonight through 7pm tomorrow.  Then, the greatest snowfall (6+ inches) was going to be northwest of a line from Dubuque, IA to Milwaukee, WI.  Now I live just barely northwest of that line, but not by much.  This morning, the National Weather Service was expecting about 4-7 inches of snow over the area.  At their 11:30 update, it’s now 6-10 inches by the time the watch is over (and I bet the watch turns into a warning later today).  GAH!  I think Mother Nature missed the memo that said winter ended.

In case you’re interested, our normal high for this time of year is in the mid 50’s.  Our high tomorrow is 32, our high on Friday is 52 and by next Monday we’re supposed to be back at 60.  Just weeks ago, we set a few records by hitting 80 degrees….now that’s a fond and faint memory.
