She’s Home!
"Life is measured not by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."
Clarine’s parents posted their last entry on their website.
She is home! She is home! She is home!
Two weeks and five days since we took Clarine to the hospital she is home. We had no idea what lie in store for us on that day. Clarine has gone through so much and yet has remained so strong through it all. As we remember how sick she was as she struggled to breath, how she did not understand what was happening, it breaks our hearts. It is so much better to see her smile once again!
Each day has been painfully slow, but the weeks have flown by. Our hearts now are filled with gratitude. There was a quote shared on Sunday that seems very fitting for the experiences that we have had – it is from then apostle Ezra Taft Benson in 1975: “Every man eventually is backed up to the wall of faith, and there he must make his stand.” We were taken right to the edge of the most terrible trial any person could have; that of losing a child. There we made our stand, backed up to the wall of faith, knowing that whatever happened, it would be the will of God. And although we were looking over the cliff’s edge into unknown heartache and despair, our Heavenly Father saw fit to let our little girl live. Our hearts go out to all those that have lost children or those dear to them. We have only glimpsed the anguish that you must feel, yet we will never forget it, and we will never be the same because of it.
Clarine is home, but she is not done healing. It will take weeks for her to fully regain her strength and to be free of the side effects of the addictive medications she had. But we feel that home will be the best place for her to finish her recovery. This will be our final entry on CaringBridge. We will be printing off all of the guestbook entries so that they can continue to strengthen us and Clarine for the rest of our lives.
Thank you for your faith. Thank you for your strength. Thank you for your words of comfort. Thank you for your words of advice. Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for your tears. Thank you for being there when we needed you. Thank you for sharing this experience with us.
As a final tribute we want to share her homecoming with you, so please watch the following video:

Thank you.

So Yay! Clarine’s home now π On another note – today was my first day of working from 6am-2:30 pm. Getting up and getting moving at 5 this morning was a pain – I haven’t been up that early routinely since my seminary days! But once I got moving and going, it was okay. And the day sped by too. I got to 2:30 and knew it was the end of my day, but it was so weird. It was nice to run errands after work and still be home before I would normally be home! π
Awesome! Glad to hear she’s been sent home.
